Laced with Desire - Jasmine Haynes

As many of you know, I have the honor of working with my coauthors from Unlaced all over again. This time we’ve got a special Valentines treat for you, Laced with Desire. Of course, we’ve got four wonderful stories for you. My fellow authors are fantastic, and it’s an honor to be working with them again.

Let me tell you a bit about where my story came from. This is probably TMI, but I’m going to be brave and do it anyway. A while back, I had my yearly mammogram and they found something...odd. Of course, you call the radiologist and the nurse and no one will tell you anything. You have to talk to your doctor. Well, my doctor was out of town, so I didn’t know squat. I also happened to be going to a conference, so I couldn’t redo the mammogram until I got back. A whole week to wait! My husband calls me a catastrophizer. Someone else called it awfulizing. I love both terms. Anyway, what it means is that you imagine the worst. That’s me! And that’s what I did the whole time at the conference, worried myself sick. Why do I do this to myself!? Well, long story short, I redid my mammogram, and everything was fine the second time around. All that worrying for nothing! However, I’m a writer. And when my editor asked me to be a part of another corset anthology, I already had my story idea! Right out of the pages of my own life. See, writers don’t even waste a good worry! And here’s a little preview:

In La Petite Mort, supermodel-turned-cosmetics-executive Sophia faces the potential of a life-threatening illness, and she now regrets all the fantasies she was too career-focused to fulfill. CEO Ford Connelly doesn’t give a damn that he’s Sophia’s boss, he means to fulfill the one fantasy she revealed to him, two men to give her all the pleasure she’s denied herself. Read an excerpt of LaPetiteMort.

Okay, so tell me, do any of you catastrophize? Come on, don’t make me feel all alone in my awfulizing!

Post a comment (you must leave your e-mail so I can contact you) and I’ll enter you in a drawing for an autographed copy of Unlaced. I’ll also add you to my newsletter for updates on releases.

Just a little promo, too. Okay, a LOT of promo! But i want to make sure you don't miss out on a single contest. You have one more day to get in on all the wonderful prizes my coauthors and I are offering on our cross blog! Just follow the blogs Jasmine Haynes, Jaci Burton, Joey Hill, Denise Rossetti, and learn all about our favorite clothing and other fun stuff about us, and we’ll enter you for a chance to win our books. OMG do I not?! Creaking door at 3am - 'there's a burglar!'. Dripping tap - ' we'll need to get the whole plumbing taken out and replaced!'. Switch doesn't work - 'the wiring's gone wrong and we'll all be burned to death at 3am, if the burglar doesn't get to us first!'. I do sympathise - I'm an awful awfulizer!

I am an awfulizer too. I always think the worst and worry too much.

I'm usually an optimist, but in face of tragedy or illness, I see everything in my life crystal clear, and it makes me want to "go for the gusto".

Thank goodness your results were okay. That was a "Biggie" hurdle and I can empathise with you on the worry.

I'm an awfulizer when I'm stressed (I think I pretty much I failed all my tests) or at random moments like thinking someone snuck into the house in the midlle of the night if I hear a creak.

Oh man, I am another awfulizer when I'm stressed. Brain shuts down, not a pretty sight, lol.

Oh, Alison, the plumbing thing! I've got that going in my head now, too!

So we're not alone, Crystal! Maybe we should start a support group, AA, Awfulizers Anonymous!

So sorry to hear about your poor night, Alison R! Sometimes I get out of bed just to stop it! and thank you, I'm glad the latest book sounds good to you.

Thanks for the empathy, Armenia. I did go overboard, though. But at least it helped me see how Sophia was going to go for the gusto in her story!

I agree about the stress and the nighttime thing, Lilaz. Isn't funny how the nighttime seems to make it worse!

And as Lilaz says, Caity, it's that stress thing!

LOL, everyone, we're in the same boat! What do we do about it!!!!????

Thanks to all of you for stopping by and sharing. Maybe it will helps us feel better!

I'm a catastrophizer, too. I'm always wondering what's happening at work and wondering if layoffs are heading this way. Wondering who's expendable.

Yes, Rebekah, that's another way of looking at it, half empty instead of half full! I do the same thing!

Oh, Jane, the work thing is another baddie, you're right. Always thinking it's going to be me they let go. It was doubly bad when my husband and I worked at the same company. I was sure both of us would get let go. Much later, I learned that they actually took that into consideration and if a married couple worked for them, they only laid off one. Luckily hubby and I made it through all layoffs intact.

I have had three left breast biopsies due to unusual findings on mammograms. The first showed cystic fibrotic disease which is benign. Second & third showed the same readings. I made sure all three doctors knew the previous readings. I still had to have the biopsies. My stresses stem from not being listened to by the doctors. I can see the reason for their call for a biopsy but I
am the one who has to "pay" in 2 or 3 ways. Recently that included
having to acquire special under-
pinnings because I am no longer
equal in size.

Oh no, Pat, I'm sorry to hear about the biopsies. I hope they were all benign. And yes, it would help if the doctors listened to us. That can be very stressful.

Awfulizer is an interesting term and yes, I sure was one. But after 3 years of not knowing a name to a decease that has robed me of proper speech, I have learned that "Awfulnizing" is the way to survive. One day at the time as positive as I can be.

I can totally see your point Jasmine. I worry about crazy stuff for no reason. Last year I heard a report that the area in Missouri I lived in had a 15% chance of a tornado, the next day. I cannot kid you on how much I planned for that possibility. I placed all of the things I felt were necessary to me in one spot, I had water bottles stored up, you name it I tried to plan it.

THEN, the next day, not a single drop of rain. Iowa got bad weather, but not us. I felt silly, but I guess its never too bad to be prepared.

Tornados worry me though, living in Missouri!

Congratulations Jasmine on the new release. The last anthology was great, so I'm sure this one is gonna rock too.

Hi Jennifer,

Glad to have you here! I am happy to hear that the test results were fine. I had a lump removed in my right breast years ago. It kept growing so the doctor was concerned but it turned out to be benign. I am mostly a happy-go-lucky person but there have been times I have been worried about stuff.

I will have to say though I stay pretty calm in stressful events. My mom says I should have been a nurse but I am to creative and love to draw! I went into architecture instead. Funny where life's paths lead you.

Yes, it seems most of the time we expect the worst. My grandmother used to call it crepe hanging. I have had to go through a lot of medical tests and I always wonder what they are looking for, if there is something wrong and that's why they are doing them. They are always routine, but I always wonder.

Jasmine,

To answer your question, yes, all
the biopsies came back with benign
results.

I always imagine the worst. One day I will be proved right. The worst can happen you know.

Pat, I'm so glad they were all benign.

Terra, flying, you're so right, I'm a mess when I have to fly somewhere! And yes, Isabel finally gets to tell her story in Mine Until Morning. I had such fun writing it. And I love the cover they gave me! Thank you!

Pencil Sanity, I agree, the main thing is trying to stay positive. My best to you.

Thank you, Rachel, I hope you'll enjoy this anthology as much as the last! You know, it's good to be prepared, as you were for the tornado. So you shouldn't feel silly, as they say, better safe than sorry. It's the worry that's the killer though, especially if it's something that didn't happen. If we could be prepared without worrying...but I haven't gotten that knack yet!

Thank you, Michele. And I'm glad to hear your lump was benign also. Gosh, that's great that for the most part you can remain calm! I think I'd be one of those shrieking in an emergency. Architecture sounds like a wonderful career!

Yes, Linda, they do a lot of routine tests. Hopefully that catches anything before it gets too big too handle!

Marybelle, the worst can happen. It's just that I don't think worryinb about it makes it not happen. As Rachie said, it's good to be prepared, but without the worrying!

Thanks everyone for stopping by and sharing. I'm not alone! I'll be back in a bit after randomly selecting the winner of Unlaced!
