Christmas Romance - Lori Borrill

I'm very fortunate this year in that I finished my last Blaze just before Thanksgiving and my next deadline affords me the luxury of taking December off. Since last year we were moving over Christmas, we didn't so much as put up a tree. To make up for it, we're going all out this year, doing all the decorating, baking, and movie watching that we didn't have time for before.

And, along those lines, I'm making a point of reading some Christmas-themed romances during my hiaitus.

In my holiday shopping travails, I picked out the following titles for my Christmas reading which are waiting in my TBR pile. I'm curious to know if anyone has read them and what you thought:

I love Brava anthologies, and Jingle Bell Rock had a ton of my favorite authors. I mean, who can go wrong with Alison Kent, Nancy Warren, Lori Foster and Janelle Denison all in one batch?

I picked this one up because I liked the theme: Two people stranded on a deserted island. Plus, with the weather getting cold, I thought the added tropical setting would warm up the holidays.

I'm a big Jamie Sobrato fan and this was her first endeavor in writing short stories. And I think in general, there's something about the rush of the holiday season that makes it suitable for the shorter reads. This Blaze anthology centers around fireman. How can you go wrong?

So what's on your holiday reading list?

I am hoping to even find time to read this Christmas season. Things have truly kept me busy. I just realized last night that I even have 7 dogs to get some little something for Christmas. It is sort of a tradition around here that the dogs get remembered, too. My husband usually takes pictures of our Christmas decorations around the house and I just awhile ago told him he should take a picture of our living room right now. I have been wrapping presents in there and there are wrapped and yet-to-be-wrapped presents, wrapping paper and tissue, bows and rolls of ribbons, the decorated tree and seven Christmas-themed chair pillows, huge Christmas wreath and several Christmas scenes of felt and sequins hanging on the walls, Christmas figurines and such on four different tables, tape, scissors, stapler, etc. etc.,
all over the room. You can hardly find a place to step into the room. Talk about a colorful (but messy) room! I am planning to get that room cleared up today (hopefully.) Wish me luck!

LOL Gladys, I'm tired just reading your post! But yes, here's wishing you luck!

Ellen, I read Holly's Thankgiving story in that series. It was really good. I do need to get off my duff and get the Christmas one.

Lori, I've been totally, breathlessly enamored over this historical mystery called Silent in the Sanctuary by Deanna Raybourn. It takes place in an old abbey during a snowy Christmas in Victorian England, and it's so well written that I keep rereading sentences just to savor the structure, voice and vocabulary. Luscious.

It's sexy too. Who wouldn't want to be Lady Julia, the lovely and well-dressed narrator, who has like 3 men flirting with her as she attempts to solve the crime?

Deanna Raybourn is a genius and I just wish she'd written more books (it's only her second) so I could order them all right now.
