Carole Mortimer: Happy Spring!

Hi, Everyone,

I’m currently on the island of Majorca, taking a much-needed holiday after a very busy winter. It isn’t hot on the island yet, but all of my favorite restaurants are now open again, so no cooking for me for three weeks. I’ll still be writing, of course, and will be starting on Seducing Ethan, the 7^th and last book in the Knight Security series. The pre-order for this ebook will be available at the end of March, with a publication date of May 26^th.

March 31^st is publication day for Enticing Ian (Knight Security 5). My editor tells me this is the best book in the series so far! I have to say I really enjoyed writing Ian and Evie’s story. Evie needs Ian to help save her brother, but it isn’t easy convincing Ian of that. The two of them knew each other three years before this story takes place, so this is a love revisited. Will they stay together this time or will the past tear them apart?

As promised the pre-order for the first book in my new Regency Sinners series, Wicked Torment, is now available, and the ebook will be released April 28^th. The heroes in each of this eight book series are linked through friendship from their schooldays and years spent together in the army. There is a mystery linking all eight books which I hope you will find as intriguing as I do.

The stories in my Regency Unlaced, Regency Sinners, Knight Security and Alpha series, are more explicit in their language and sexual content than my other books. In other words, they’re hot, so you have been warned!

Carole Mortimer: Celebrating Milestones

It was two years ago last month that I clicked to ‘publish’ the pre-order for my very first Indie book, Christmas Alpha, with a publication date of December 8th. This month is the publication of Seduced by a Marquis, my 22^nd Indie book, and also my 220th book.

To celebrate this milestone the first book in my Regency Unlaced series, The Duke’s Mistress, is now FREE. As is my very first Indie book, Christmas Alpha (Alpha 1).

It’s been a wild roller-coaster 2 years—and if anything I love Indie publishing more now than I did when I first decided to take that leap into the unknown. It’s been an amazing learning experience, but also one that I have found very personally rewarding. It has also allowed me to connect on a more personal level with my readers. Keep those emails coming, I love to hear from you!

So, what have I learned in the past two years? Well, I now know how to put the whole book together, because I am now the publisher as well as the author. I choose the publication date, and the cover picture, how that cover is going to look, and all of the content, front, back, and sideways. I also decide what series I am going to write, and how many books will be in that series. I’ve become adept on social media—something I never thought I would be.

I obviously have a great team to help me with all of this. My son Josh is my PR guy—couldn’t manage without him. My son Matt is my formatter—ditto. My US editor, Linda, and US copyeditor, Kim, are just wonderful. And then there’s the amazingly talented, Jo, also in the US, who designs my covers, memes, and website.

As you can see, what I’ve also learned the last two years is how to delegate!

I look forward to sharing many more of my Indie books with you in the coming months and years.

Carole Mortimer: A Strange Summer

Hi Everyone,

Summer 2016 has been a very strange one for me, filled with personal sadness and professional happiness.

On a personal note I lost a very dear friend, after a long fight against illness. I spent many hours with him at the end of his life, and consider it a privilege to have done so. He was godfather to our youngest son, and an honorary grandfather to all six of our sons, and we will all miss him very much.

On the professional side of life the ebook published August 30th, Captured by a Gentleman (Regency Unlaced 6) hit #1 Gothic on Kindle. Thank you all so much!

One of my editors told me long ago that she believed I worked better under pressure. To prove her right, despite the personal sadness of the summer, I have just finished and uploaded the finished copy of Challenging Gabriel (Knight Security 2) to all ebook retail sites. This is the third story in my Knight Security contemporary romance series. It is available for pre-order on all ebook retail sites, and will be released on September 23^rd.

I’m currently writing Pleasured by a Duke (Regency Unlaced 7). You met Sebastian Falkner in Captured by a Gentleman (Regency Unlaced 6) and many of you have already asked me for Sebastian’s story—including my editor, who fell in love with him in book 6. This ebook will be released on October 28^th. The pre-order for Pleasured by a Duke hit #1 Regency and #1 Gothic Top100 on Amazon during its first week on pre-order. That is incredible! Once again, thank you all so much for loving reading this Regency series as much as I love writing it.

Having successfully settled our youngest son into university last week, tomorrow my husband and I are going on a much-needed holiday. When we intend doing very little except eat, drink, and sleep – and not necessarily in that order!

Carole Mortimer: Checking In!

We are currently having a heat-wave in the UK! Not my favorite thing, I have to admit. I’m more of a snow person than a sun-worshipper, which is a little odd because my birth sign is Leo, and we’re supposed to love the sun. Guess, in my case, someone got that wrong!

2016 is proving to be a very busy year book-wise for me. So far I’ve had a book out every month, and my publishing schedule looks as if I will have a book out every month for the rest of the year too. Not that I’m complaining—I love writing romances, contemporary and Regency, all with the added excitement of lots of steam and suspense in the storyline.

Pursued by the Viscount, book 4 in the Regency Unlaced Series, was released on May 27th. I have been absolutely overwhelmed by how popular this series is, constantly in the Top100 bestselling charts. I’m so pleased, because I really enjoy writing this super sexy Regency romantic suspense series. I love doing the research for this series. The Regency period is one of my favorite times in history. Such a short period of time, 1811-1820, but so exciting too, with the war against Napoleon, his surrender and banishment to Elba in 1814, his escape, and then recapture and incarceration on St Helena. Plenty of scope there for exciting Regency heroes and heroines!

Desired by a Lord (Regency Unlaced 5) is now available for pre-order and will be released on July 22nd. Captured by a Gentleman (Regency Unlaced 6) will be available for pre-order soon, with a release date of August 31st. There will be more books in this series in 2016.

June sees the start of my new contemporary Romantic Suspense series Knight Security, with the release of Defying Asher on June 30th. This book is now available for pre-order. The introductory novella to this series, Resisting Alexandre (Knight Security 0.5) – and previously published as “Alexandre”, in the Royals & Rogues anthology with 5 other bestselling authors – will also be published June 30th. So keep an eye out for the pre-order to this novella, because it features the first explosive, and unforgettable, meeting between the hero and heroine of Defying Asher.
The Knight Security series is a spin-off of the #1 bestselling Alpha series. A chance to meet old friends and make new ones!

Carole Mortimer: April News!

Happy April, Everyone.

Wow, can you believe it’s almost halfway through April already? I’m hoping Spring has finally arrived. The daffodils are out, the weather is improving—slowly. I love the Spring, when everything comes back to life for another year, and the night’s finally start staying light longer. I almost forgot to put the clocks forward again this year, on the last Sunday in March. I wasn’t too happy about losing the 1 hour, because Sunday is the only morning I have a lie in!

April 2^nd was release day of Taken by the Earl (Regency Unlaced 3). This is the 3^rd book in the Bestselling Regency Unlaced Series.

Fliss, the heroine, overhears a conversation in which two people, a man and a woman, discuss killing Sinclair—Sin—Montgomery, the Earl of Winterbourne. She has no idea why, or when the murder is to take place, all she does know is that she has to find the earl and warn him he’s in danger. Finding the earl isn’t a problem, resisting Sin is another matter entirely, all while trying to discover who wants him dead. The story begins in England but then moves to Scotland, the home of the hero.

Book 4 in the Regency Unlaced Series, Pursued by the Viscount, is now available for pre-order, and will be released May 27^th. Books 5 and 6 will follow in July and August 2016.

June will see the publication of the first full-length novel in my new contemporary series Knight Security—Defying Asher (Knight Security 1). Asher is a secondary character in my books Savage Alpha, and the novella Alexandre (Knight Security 0.5) in the Royals and Rogues anthology with four other bestselling authors.
