So normally summer is my absolute favorite time of year. The kids are home, the weather is warmer and everyone seems more chilled out. In the UK the sun doesn't set until after 9 so the days seem longer as if I can accomplish more so I don't have to hurry to get things done.
We have had gorgeous weather all week. The kind that means I can move my lawn chairs into the back garden and not worry about them getting rained on and/or blown away by gusting wind. It's like someone has taken a look into my mind and plucked out the perfect days.
But...
I'm on deadline. Now the book I'm writing is so much fun and every day when I sit down at my computer or iPad (I've been writing outside!) I love the characters and the story world that I am in. Still a part of me wishes the book would come faster so I would have more time to take walks through the lovely gardens in my town or sit outside our local pub talking and enjoying the sun.
One of the best parts of summer when I was growing up was listening to country music. It is the soundtrack to my childhood. One of my Scott Brothers' novellas Her Summer Cowboy is my homage to those long lazy days. It's on sale right now for .99.
What's your favorite part of summer? I've got a signed copy of His Seduction Game Plan for one lucky commenter.

Summer is hard for me as I can't handle the heat. So, I usually stay inside most of it. I like to load up on ice cream or smoothies to try to cool down.
I like summer mornings, before it gets too hot. I don't have air conditioning, but do have an attic fan & ceiling fans. But some of those hot humid nights are tough to sleep - so I'll read.
There are many things I love about summer, but one of the strangest things why I look forward to it is because the schools are out for summer break. I live on a busy street, in front of a building that houses 2 different schools and it's VERY noisy. Even the traffic doesn't bother me that much.
I love all the summer fruits. I could happily survive on cherries alone.
I used to think it was a time to relax, but the kids have activities and jobs, so I'm still running...
Grew up on Country music, too!

My favorite part is seeing my teenagers and their friends enjoying our pool. They make me laugh with their antics!
My favorite part is relaxing by the sea in the shade with ice tea and a book.

One of my favorite things is hosting a summer potluck party for friends and family.
We do this every year, rain or shine, as we have a carport, garage, rec room and living room, if necessary. Between 25 and 75 people have joined us for croquet, basketball, ladder ball, ring toss, and street hockey in our double-wide driveway (hence the requirement for a potluck, as I'd never know how much food to prepare!).
