Halfway through all this I had to clear out a chest of drawers in the office as it was unexpectedly going back into circulation downstairs...I tell you, never get a new TV ;-). Anyway I found a box that had gone on holidays with us a year and a half ago. It contained a note book where I’d scribbled down some story ideas that eventually became “The Surgeon’s Special Delivery”, along with some pictures from a couple of magazines.
At the very bottom, next to some batteries, was a scummy bit of paper, a bit water damaged with blue writing on it. I remember my teenage son coming back from a walk along the beach saying, ‘I found this on the sand and you might find it useful.’ (Bless him!)
As I re-read the scrawl of (and I am guessing here) a 15/16 year old girl who was obviously describing her boyfriend or the boyfriend she wanted, I was stunned by how she'd written down exactly what every woman wants (physical description aside) and what every ROMANCE AUTHOR puts into her hero.
Here is the double sided list…. Has strength, is gentle, has integrity, is trustworthy, is flexible, has spontaneity, is patient, is reliable, is loyal, has initiative, is honest. And on the other side she’d written..dark hair, olive skin, sense of humor, funny, has respect for self and others, knows himself, comfortable in his own skin, jenerous (sic) giving, we understand each other.
Isn’t this the perfect Hero list?
What do you want in your hero? Let me know and I'll choose a winner and send a copy of 'The Surgeon's Special Delivery.'

Pretty much the whole list you found - and what an amazing thing to have happen to you! Bearing in mind my temparament, I'd defintely need a hero with a sense of humour!
Ha! LOVE the list..how awesome! :) I totally agree, I think a hero needs to be smart...patient...and brave. :)
Who doesn't want a hero to be all of that list and more? :) I know I do! Fun post today...and I feel your pain about having to paint a wall. HATE painting!
I agree with everyone else -- sounds like a perfect hero/boyfriend. But it also sounds like an impossible task to find one that has all those qualities. Wonder if she got all she wanted.
Great blog! How amazing to discover a list like that on the beach! My hero would have all those characteristics and these:
able to read my mind when chocolate calls to me; bears with me when I'm ill; will still love me when I'm old and grey; still says I'm gorgeous when I'm having a "fat" day - hey he's here sitting next to me! Hooray for dh's!! take care. Caroline x
Whoa! Awesome list! Well, my perfect hero would have all that and one tight ass! Ha, ha! Love'em!
Way to go Fiona!
that list hit the nail on the head for me. the olive skin is not something I would have put or the dark hair for me personally but a great list non-the-less.
I definitely like humor, honesty, gentle/caring etc.
Fiona staggers in at 6am her time, rubbing her eyes. Morning everyone! I see you've been busy while I've been sleeping. Wonderful!
Alison, I think sense of humour is at the top of my list. The ability to just laugh and to find the funny side of things even in dire situtions is pretty important to me.
I do agree with the list you have Fiona something I really admire in a hero is honesty and a sense of humour, that always does it for me I am lost in the book then
Have Fun
Helen
Rachie,
Patient eh? Yep another really good virtue although some of the bravest people I know are not patient at all. Still, that is a combination worth thinking about. Thanx!
Ellen, I often think that we see all sorts of things in the person we love that others don't see. People think my DH is quiet and equate that with shy. He isn't shy at all but he does sit back and let others talk but if you take the time to listen you hear the very dry wit.
Caroline, hold onto him, he sounds a gem!
Michelle, I'm with you, LOL!
Robyn, the description of him made me think she had actually met him. But like you, the coloring doesn't fuss me too much but the eyes do...I'm a sucker for eyes
Helen, honesty and integrity, right? I agree.
I'm getting great stuff from you good women this morning, THANKYOU ALL
