Fall Fun from Susanna Carr

Due to technical difficulties with her computer, Susanna can't be here to blog today. However, she asked me to run a special contest in her stead for all Totebag readers.

Susanna recently blogged about tasting Pumpkin ice cream for the first time. She loved it.
Now she's inviting you to tell her about some of the best things you love about Fall. Is there a special recipe or treat you love to make around this time of year? What's your favorite thing about this season?
Leave a comment here and Susanna will pick two winners on Wednesday (Oct. 8th) to receive a book from her backlist. ;)
****Maureen and Virginia are the two winners! Ladies please email Lee at totebag@authorsoundrelations.com with your mailing addresses and we'll get the books in the mail to you. :) Thanks!****

Hi Susanna!

October is my favorite month of the year. The weather is so lovely--I keep thinking about the line from a Keats poem I had to memorize in high school, "Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness." I love the overcast weather, the melancholy mood, the vivid yellows and reds of the trees. With the pleasurable anticipation of Thanksgiving and Christmas just around the corner!

Oh, and did I mention the candy? I love buying massive bags of chocolatey treats for the Trick or Treaters, of course. And then...ooops....someone keeps eating the candy so I have to buy more. Season of bliss and mellow chunky-ness! hehe

For me, fall is just a time of change. The weather cools, it gets darker earlier, the leaves turn to reds and oranges, people put on different clothes, start cooking different things... even the air smells different. Everything just screams CHANGE! and that seems to motivate me.

And the weather starts to cool enough to make candy :)

December is my favorite month of the year because that when it cools off here in South Texas, and it contains Christmas and I love to drive around and look at decorations. And there's lots of chocolate candy around and its not so hot the candy melts before you can get it unwrapped. My favorite candy is chocolate covered cherries.

I love the cooler weather, apple picking and apple cider. With the cooler weather I can use the oven again so I can bake or roast a chicken without roasting everyone in the house

I like the comfortable, cool weather in the fall as well as the beautiful colors of the changing tree leaves. Halloween candy is something I look forward to.

Hello, Susanna,

I'm a Texan who loves Texas but not
the summer heat! So late Fall is
a great time for me. The weather is
getting cooler, the high school foot-
ball programs are in high gear, and
Thanksgiving and Christmas are on the
way! Holiday foods, especially
pumpkin pie, are favorites for me!

Susanna, sorry to hear about the computer issues.

I love Fall, because as someone said I live in Texas, and getting the cooler weather is so nice after wondering if it would ever come.

What I miss about fall is changing leaves. In the area of Texas I live in we don't really get changing leaves. Seems more like one day the leaves are on the trees and the next the leaves are on the grass!

Oh geez, fall is terrific when the NY Mets make it into the playoffs. . . or even better, the Yankees don't make it into the playoffs or get their butts get beaten badly during them. ;)

More traditionally. . . love the colors on the trees, and the candy! :)

Fall.....the colors, the air, kids soccer games, football and the smells in the kitchen of apples, pumpkin and yes Jennie, the disappearing candy.

Susanna, sorry about your computer issues.

I'm more a spring person myself. I don't celebrate Halloween or the Harvest, so those don't make this a special time for me.

I do however love that candy corn is available at this time of year... and am thankfuln when the season is over since I tend to go a little overboard on consuming it. :)

I love fall and pumkin pie!
Even though you can buy it anytime, I only seem to eat it now, it makes it taste better. :)

I'm more of a warm weather person myself but while I'm not a big fan of the cold winter weather following on the heels of autumn, I love the fall season primarily because of the beautiful colors. And let's not forget apple cider and caramel apples.

I love the fall because the tempts cool down and the weather is beautiful. I have been taking walks every day these past few weeks. I can't stand to work inside house right now I have to be out side, so I am refinishing one of my end tables. I also love all of the fall colors.

I love the cooler temperatures of fall because it gets so hot and humid here in the South over the summer. I also love the fall colors- changing leaves and pumpkins. My family also loves college football in the fall.

The fall is awesome here in Indiana! The leaves turn such beautiful colors and there is a wonderful smell in the air! It is a time for snuggling up with your loved ones and looking at the fall night sky. The stars twinkle so brightly! The moon is so pretty at night too!

Then there are the days when there is a harvest moon. It glows a bright orange and is so huge in the sky!

Searching for the right pumpkin at the local pumpkin patch is a fun thing to do with the kids! Listening to thump of your knuckles on the tough skin and picking out the one with the right sound to it is a hunt in itself! We have had many fun times listening to pumpkins and laughing our heads off!

Fall has many wonders and treats for the eyes! No wonder it is a magical time of the year!
