Fruit Smoothies in the Dark... - Christina Hollis

Hi, I'm Christina Hollis and I love romance! Places like this are ideal for writers and readers to get together and share. My first Harlequin Mills and Boon Modern Romance, 'The Italian Billionaire's Virgin', has just been published (January 2007) so I'm a 'new bug'. The last few months have been a real rollercoaster for me. That first acceptance has been followed by two more novels, one to be published in May and the second in December. I've been lucky enough to meet some of my favourite authors - or at least spot them across a crowded room! But the other day we had a tremendous storm which brought down the powerlines supplying our village, and brought everyone right down to earth. The electricity was off for two days. The whole area rallied round and it really restored everyone's faith in human nature. We were very lucky - all we lost was the contents of our fridge and freezers. They began to thaw and wouldn't you know it, leaked onto the only carpet in the house - our cottage has tiles or bare boards in all the other rooms!
Not all was lost, though. We managed to salvage some packs of blueberries, raspberries and strawberry granita and crushed them all into fruit smoothies. They were delicious, though not very warming on a cold, dark winter's night!

I love places like this as well. It is wonderful to be able to talk to authors and fellow readers.

Congrats on the sales!

I am sorry about the power outage, but I am glad you are okay and didn't lose much! I have never had a fruit smoothie, but those sound delicious!

I know what you mean about the power outages, I live in SW MO and we are still trying to recover from the ice storms that hit. It's 2 weeks latter and still looks like a war zone, and many are still without power

I hate power outages. I am glad you came through ok. I think it is great that you made smoothies from the fruit and granita you saved.

Hey Christina,

I am sorry to hear about the power outage and about your only carpet in the house (on the positive side at least now you wont have to vacuum it anymore).

A another good thing is that everyone is safe and sound and where even able to make some fruit smoothies (those are good!).

And last but not least congrats on your books!

I can sympathize with you. We have a lot of power outages where I live. One winter we were without power for 8 days! That was awful! I was not a happy camper. We kept warm by burning wood in our fireplace. In order to use the toilet we had to go down to the basement and get water from the sump pump and pour it into the toilet. Just awful! Needless to say after that incident we went out and bought a power generator. If that ever happens again we will have power to our house.

Congratulations on the book sales! Hurray!

You are very creative in making fruit smoothies. Yum! Just delicious! I haven't had one in a while. Hmmm....I just might make me one!

Take care and have a great week!

Scary, Christina! Glad you survived -- and were able to drink smoothies philosohically!

We've just been getting socked with snow. But the power is still on, thank heavens!
