Maya Blake: Secrets - we all have them

Don't we? Juicy secrets that we'd love to share but can't. Scandalous secrets that we only share with our BFFs. Or humongous whoppers that could be potentially life-changing. Those we normally try our hardest to smother in order to protect those we care about.

Of course, secrets have a very funny way of coming out because…well, it's against the laws of humanity to keep things hidden for ever…right?

But when is it a good time to share a secret and when is it better to keep it under wraps?

That's the BIG decision Cesare, my hero, faces in MARRIAGE MADE OF SECRETS.. He's losing Ava, his estranged wife, and could potentially lose his child but he's so set on protecting them both that he keeps this HUGE secret to himself until it's almost too late.

Ava is a feisty, take no prisoners redhead who is determined to fight one last to make her marriage work. But it's a tough gig because, well...SECRETS!

Writing this story was hard. At times, shouted at Cesare – just tell her! The problem was he didn't know from the off how life-changing the secret would be but he KNEW something was very wrong. But he chose the macho way of shouldering all his worries and not sharing his problems with his wife. *rolls eyes*

It takes an earthquake (literally) for him to begin to come to his senses and it broke my heart to see Cesare and Ava struggling so much. But seeing how much those two clearly felt about each other (cue sizzling hot sexy times), I rooted for them to find their own perfect-for-them happy ending.

What about you? Tell me how you feel about secrets big or small and you'll be in with a chance to win a signed paperback copy of MARRIAGE MADE OF SECRETS. Good luck!

I think it depends on why you feel the need to keep something secret. Some secrets are best kept to yourself, but others need to be aired & dealt with I think.

I'm not a fan of secrets. It puts you in a vulnerable spot. I would keep a secret if it would prevent someone from knowing something painful or hurtful.

Recently I had to keep a secret for 5 months and it just about killed me. My youngest son semi-eloped on May 24th. They only had parents in attendance. He did not invite his 3 siblings. I had a hard time not telling my 3 other children. I did not understand why brothers and sisters could not attend the happy event. There are still some bad feelings.

I think it depends on how it will effect others whether secrets are ok or not. Your book sounds great. Love the covers.

I have kept some secrets for years. It would only hurt people if I told them and would make me out to be a bad person. I have no need to seek revenge.

I'm fascinated by how different the heroines look. Which one most resembles your heroine?

Very true, Mary. I feel that way too :)

Oh Laurie, that's awful! But as you say, sometimes it's to protect those you love. I think this was what my hero was trying to do, until it blew up in his face. Glad your secret is out and no longer burdening you :)

Thanks Crystal! That the crux of the matter when it comes to secret - will it hurt those we love or not?

Hey Kaelee, I totally understand that. Some secrets are best kept to oneself :)

Hi Scarlet, great to see you! My US cover is the best representation of my heroine as she's a very fiesty redhead, lol! And the background is also closer to the Lake Como setting :)

Congrats Maya on the new release! Looks and sounds awesome :) For the most part I don't agree w/ secrets big or small, especially among close friends and family, but there are extenuating circumstances that do justify keeping them. But not the indefinite, "for your own good" secrets.

Congrats on the release, pretty covers!
I kind of have double standards on secrets: I have no problem keeping something from someone, if it hurts him/her, but I hate even the smallest secret kept from me :D

I Love the Hlq Presents cover!
Secrets can be fun, but I'd rather know what they are than not.

If it's a secret that adds stress to your life it isn't good. Secrets make for good reading when I'm finding out how the characters are working to keep their secrets :)

Hi Erin, I think most people are like that. And I agree, it's the for-your-own-good ones that tend to get us into trouble ;)

To hurt or not to hurt, that is the question! You have to dig deep to
make that decision!

Great point, Leni!

I think it depends on the secret. Some things are better left unsaid.

Depends on the secret. My SIL insists on keeping secrets that I just can't understand; for example, I wonder why it's a secret that her teenager is taking a driver's ed course when we can see him/her driving in the vehicle around town. I just shake my head....

It depends on the secret. If it will hurt someone, don't share it. If it won't hurt someone, it's OK to share.
