Lisa Dale: Amazing Bookshelves...Hey, A Girl Can Dream!

My husband and I are in the process of moving (the very beginning of the process, in which we are seeking a place to move to.) And that means I'm spending a lot of time on real estate websites, fantasizing about my dream home. :-)

So, in honor of readers who dream, here's a collection of some of my "dream bookcases," which I do hope will be making an appearance in my waking life soon!

And of course, I HAD to post this fabulous video...

Hope your bookshelves are as exciting and full of stories as these!

Love,

Love this post and loved that video too! I like the first book case that opens to a book room! Now that's my dream!

What a great post. I want the first book shelf, with the shelf that opens. That would be cool if in the room there was a place to read, with a nice comfortable chair, and natural light form a big picture window.

I hope your house hunt goes well for you and my wish for you is that you get lots of rooms for bookshelves like the ones you posted. That video was wonderful. I feel like books "peek" at me like that when I go choosing one to read. There always seems to be that one that stands out above the others at that moment of choice.

I want that first one... makes me think of Young Frankenstein. Put the Candle Back... If you know a good finish carpenter.. have him build shelves before you move in..

I want them all. I'm not greedy.

Inspirational! We're in the process of moving, too, Lisa. I've been filleting the book collection - and all those out of computer manuals are gone, gone, gone but bookshelves are going to be featuring heavily in my future!

They are amazing. I would love to turn one of the rooms in my house into the library.

I'm so happy i'm not the only one that admires awesome book cases. I'm very cruisy in life but my book case and cd case HAS to be in author order, size order, hardback or paperback order and genre order. I'm not sure how I manage it but if there's one thing in my life that has order its my bookcases and my cd cases (that's easy, only alphabetical) T

Thanks, Lisa. Some creative ways to shelve books! Where were the second and seventh photos shot---in Salvador Dali's house?

Good luck with your move!

I am so in love with the first bookcase! I would love to have one where it opens up and reveals a room behind. Awesome, wicked! There is a bookstore in my town that is a house converted into a bookstore. The lady who owns the place, who I personally know, took on a tour of the place. There is so many neat things tucked everywhere that you would miss them otherwise. Under her stairway, there is a nook created, that has a desk, shelves, lamp, stuffed chair, stuffed animals on shelves, that is the coziest reading alcove I have ever seen! This opens onto a small room which is the children's book area. It is an amazing room filled with toys, books, stuffed animals, etc. The whole lower flower is a bookstore and all the rooms have sofas, stuffed chairs with pillows, tables everywhere and book shelves galore! There are also many beautiful stationary sets, bookmarks, potpourri, etc. for sale everywhere! It is my favorite place to go, to sit and lounge for a while.

Oh boy, Lisa, many good wishes on moving!
