Carole Mortimer: Summer plans!

Hi, Everyone,

I will be attending the Romantic Times conference in Atlanta, Georgia, May 3-7^th. So please come and say hello if you see me there. If not, I will also be at the Grand Book Signing at the conference on May 6^th . I will be signing two of my indie books, the contemporary romantic suspense, Enticing Ian (Knight Security 5), and the Regency combination, The Duke’s Mistress/Claimed by a Marquis (Regency Unlaced 1 & 2).

The pre-order for Wicked Torment (Regency Sinners 1), is now available, and the ebook will be released April 28^th. I absolutely loved writing this book. The hero, Darius Strong, the Duke of Wolferton, is arrogance personified but also so sexy, he made my toes curl as I was writing the story! The heroine, Lady Bea Hanwell, appears prim but underneath that there is a siren longing to break free. Darius gives her that freedom, making for a very sensual and erotic read.

The Regency Sinners series will comprise of 8 books, linked by the heroes’ friendship. There is a mystery linking all eight stories in this new Regency series, which I hope you will find as intriguing as I am writing them.

Carole Mortimer: Happy Spring!

Hi, Everyone,

I’m currently on the island of Majorca, taking a much-needed holiday after a very busy winter. It isn’t hot on the island yet, but all of my favorite restaurants are now open again, so no cooking for me for three weeks. I’ll still be writing, of course, and will be starting on Seducing Ethan, the 7^th and last book in the Knight Security series. The pre-order for this ebook will be available at the end of March, with a publication date of May 26^th.

March 31^st is publication day for Enticing Ian (Knight Security 5). My editor tells me this is the best book in the series so far! I have to say I really enjoyed writing Ian and Evie’s story. Evie needs Ian to help save her brother, but it isn’t easy convincing Ian of that. The two of them knew each other three years before this story takes place, so this is a love revisited. Will they stay together this time or will the past tear them apart?

  

As promised the pre-order for the first book in my new Regency Sinners series, Wicked Torment, is now available, and the ebook will be released April 28^th. The heroes in each of this eight book series are linked through friendship from their schooldays and years spent together in the army. There is a mystery linking all eight books which I hope you will find as intriguing as I do.

Carole Mortimer: A Happy New Year to Everyone!

I can’t believe we’re into 2017 already. Where does the time go?

For me that time is spent with my lovely family and friends, with the added happiness of writing the romance books I love to write, in the contemporary and Regency genres.

2017 is going to see some very exciting publications in both my Regency and contemporary series.

On the 24^th of this month I publish Tempting Zander, the 5^th book in my Knight Security series. This is the story of Kate Stewart, mega rock star, and Zander Buchanan, the man in charge of her security detail on her world tour after her life is threatened by her ex-boyfriend. The attraction between Kate and Zander is immediate and combustible! You have met Zander in several of the previous books in this series, so it was especially fun to write his story. On the 24^th February I will publish Tamed by the Earl, the 9^th and last book in the Regency Unlaced series. The hero of this book is Daniel Somersby, the Earl of Latham, and the older brother of Thea, the heroine in the 1^st book of the series, The Duke’s Mistress. Carole Mortimer: Celebrating Milestones

It was two years ago last month that I clicked to ‘publish’ the pre-order for my very first Indie book, Christmas Alpha, with a publication date of December 8th. This month is the publication of Seduced by a Marquis, my 22^nd Indie book, and also my 220th book.

To celebrate this milestone the first book in my Regency Unlaced series, The Duke’s Mistress, is now FREE. As is my very first Indie book, Christmas Alpha (Alpha 1).

It’s been a wild roller-coaster 2 years—and if anything I love Indie publishing more now than I did when I first decided to take that leap into the unknown. It’s been an amazing learning experience, but also one that I have found very personally rewarding. It has also allowed me to connect on a more personal level with my readers. Keep those emails coming, I love to hear from you!

So, what have I learned in the past two years? Well, I now know how to put the whole book together, because I am now the publisher as well as the author. I choose the publication date, and the cover picture, how that cover is going to look, and all of the content, front, back, and sideways. I also decide what series I am going to write, and how many books will be in that series. I’ve become adept on social media—something I never thought I would be.

I obviously have a great team to help me with all of this. My son Josh is my PR guy—couldn’t manage without him. My son Matt is my formatter—ditto. My US editor, Linda, and US copyeditor, Kim, are just wonderful. And then there’s the amazingly talented, Jo, also in the US, who designs my covers, memes, and website.

As you can see, what I’ve also learned the last two years is how to delegate!

I look forward to sharing many more of my Indie books with you in the coming months and years.

Carole Mortimer: Reading Tastes

Hi Everyone,

November is a month when I love to light the fire and sit down and read a book by one of my favorite authors. Do your reading tastes change with the Seasons? I’ve noticed that mine do. For some reason I prefer to read historical books in the winter months. Maybe it’s the darker evenings, but I so enjoy being transported to a different time and way of life. Probably in the knowledge I’m snug and cosily warm with my family!

Carole Mortimer: Autumn has arrived in England

Hi Everyone,

Wow, autumn really feels as if it’s arrived here in England. The weather has turned to rain, and it’s very blustery, blowing all the leaves off the trees. I’m one of those people who love the Seasons, so for me this is a welcome change after a very hot summer.

Our youngest son has now returned to university, after taking a year’s break away from academia. We wish him well on his new course. Most of all, we hope he’ll be happy. And that he doesn’t bring too much washing home for Mum on a weekend!    

Challenging Gabriel (Knight Security 2), the third story in my contemporary romance series, was published on September 23rd. Gabriel is a particular favourite character of mine, and his story takes place in London and on the island of Mallorca. Mallorca is somewhere my husband and I visit regularly, and it proved to be the perfect location for the hideaway villa necessary to Gabriel’s story.   

I have now finished writing Pleasured by a Duke (Regency Unlaced 7). If you read book 6 in this Regency series, Captured by a Gentleman, then you will have already met Sebastian Falkner. I think you are going to love his story, and this 7^th book also introduces the hero of book 8 in the series, which will be available for pre-order soon and released in December. Pleasured by a Duke is available for pre-order, and will be released October 28th.

Carole Mortimer: A Strange Summer

Hi Everyone,

Summer 2016 has been a very strange one for me, filled with personal sadness and professional happiness.

On a personal note I lost a very dear friend, after a long fight against illness. I spent many hours with him at the end of his life, and consider it a privilege to have done so. He was godfather to our youngest son, and an honorary grandfather to all six of our sons, and we will all miss him very much.

On the professional side of life the ebook published August 30th, Captured by a Gentleman (Regency Unlaced 6) hit #1 Gothic on Kindle. Thank you all so much! 

One of my editors told me long ago that she believed I worked better under pressure. To prove her right, despite the personal sadness of the summer, I have just finished and uploaded the finished copy of Challenging Gabriel (Knight Security 2) to all ebook retail sites. This is the third story in my Knight Security contemporary romance series. It is available for pre-order on all ebook retail sites, and will be released on September 23^rd.

I’m currently writing Pleasured by a Duke (Regency Unlaced 7). You met Sebastian Falkner in Captured by a Gentleman (Regency Unlaced 6) and many of you have already asked me for Sebastian’s story—including my editor, who fell in love with him in book 6. Happy August Everyone,

I very much enjoyed attending the Romantic Writers of America conference in San Diego in July, only to return to the UK and find myself in the middle of a heatwave, with temperatures higher than those in California!

 It was, as always, a good conference, and I thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful city of San Diego, and the company of the lovely Susan Stephens. We share a suite at conferences, and as always, had a great time together exploring this wonderful city. My youngest son was very jealous of the fact that I saw the start of the Comicon Conference while in San Diego!

I have been helping with the daily care of a very sick friend since I returned, but working late at night writing the 3rd book in my #1 Bestselling Knight Security Series, Challenging Gabriel (Knight Security 2). This book is available for pre-order and will be published on September 30th.

The 5th book in my #1 Bestselling Regency Unlaced series, Desired by a Lord (Regency Unlaced 5), was released on July 22nd, shortly after I returned home.

The 6th book, Captured by a Gentleman (Regency Unlaced 6) is now available for pre-order on all ebook retail sites, and will be released on August 30th. This 6th book is the story of Ranulf Montgomery, the cousin of the hero in Taken by the Earl (Regency Unlaced 3). So many of you wrote and told me that Ranulf had such a hard time in Taken by the Earl that he deserved to have his own story, and I totally agree with you. Carole Mortimer: July News

A belated Happy Independence Day on July 4th!

Three of our sons, plus one daughter-in-law, and granddaughter Aoife—or most of the asylum, as I like to call them—decided to come home to the Isle of Man for a week’s holiday the first week of July. July 5^th is Tynwald Day on the Isle of Man, and a national holiday. Although situated between England and Ireland, the Isle of Man is totally independent. The government here is called Tynwald, and Tynwald Day is a thousand-year-old ceremony which takes place at the village of St John’s, on a hill in the middle of the island. Islanders are allowed to place petitions in front of the representative of the government, and Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen is Lord of Man, rather than our queen. We all had a great time, and the weather stayed fine, which was a bonus.

End of June saw the start of my new contemporary romantic suspense series, Knight Security, with the release of Resisting Alexandre (Knight Security 0.5) and Defying Asher (Knight Security 1) both on June 30^th. Resisting Alexandre was previously published as Alexandre, in the anthology Royals & Rogues. The Knight Security series is a spin-off of the #1 bestselling Alpha series, so readers will meet some familiar characters from previous books in some of these stories. The 3^rd book in the series, Challenging Gabriel (Knight Security 2) is now available for pre-order from all ebook retailers, and will be released September 23^rd.

Carole Mortimer: Checking In!

We are currently having a heat-wave in the UK! Not my favorite thing, I have to admit. I’m more of a snow person than a sun-worshipper, which is a little odd because my birth sign is Leo, and we’re supposed to love the sun. Guess, in my case, someone got that wrong!

2016 is proving to be a very busy year book-wise for me. So far I’ve had a book out every month, and my publishing schedule looks as if I will have a book out every month for the rest of the year too. Not that I’m complaining—I love writing romances, contemporary and Regency, all with the added excitement of lots of steam and suspense in the storyline.

Pursued by the Viscount, book 4 in the Regency Unlaced Series, was released on May 27th. I have been absolutely overwhelmed by how popular this series is, constantly in the Top100 bestselling charts. I’m so pleased, because I really enjoy writing this super sexy Regency romantic suspense series. I love doing the research for this series. The Regency period is one of my favorite times in history. Such a short period of time, 1811-1820, but so exciting too, with the war against Napoleon, his surrender and banishment to Elba in 1814, his escape, and then recapture and incarceration on St Helena. Plenty of scope there for exciting Regency heroes and heroines!

Desired by a Lord (Regency Unlaced 5) is now available for pre-order and will be released on July 22nd. Captured by a Gentleman (Regency Unlaced 6) will be available for pre-order soon, with a release date of August 31st. There will be more books in this series in 2016.

Family news—we had two birthdays in April. My lovely daughter-in-law Esther in early April. And our granddaughter Aoife Jane was 1 year old at the end of the month. I cannot believe it’s been a whole year since she was born! She’s adorable—of course—and into all sorts of mischief.

Book news—the pre-order is now available for Defying Asher, the first full-length book in my new contemporary series, Knight Security. This ebook will be released on June 30th.

Lee asked me how I get the ideas for my books, and especially a new series. The Knight Security series was actually an accident. Asher Knight, and his three brothers, are the brothers of the heroine of my book Savage Alpha (Alpha 8). Asher and Lissa, the heroine of Defying Asher, also featured as secondary characters in my novella Alexandre (Knight Security 0.5) featured in Royals and Rogues. An anthology with four other bestselling authors, which was published in March. Once you’ve read that novella you will know there is no way I could resist writing Asher and Lissa’s story: this couple are just explosive together. The four Knight brothers are now all very real characters to me, so expect to see Gabriel, Caleb, and Ethan’s stories very soon too.

Carole Mortimer: April News!

Happy April, Everyone.

Wow, can you believe it’s almost halfway through April already? I’m hoping Spring has finally arrived. The daffodils are out, the weather is improving—slowly. I love the Spring, when everything comes back to life for another year, and the night’s finally start staying light longer. I almost forgot to put the clocks forward again this year, on the last Sunday in March. I wasn’t too happy about losing the 1 hour, because Sunday is the only morning I have a lie in! 

April 2^nd was release day of Taken by the Earl (Regency Unlaced 3). This is the 3^rd book in the Bestselling Regency Unlaced Series.

Fliss, the heroine, overhears a conversation in which two people, a man and a woman, discuss killing Sinclair—Sin—Montgomery, the Earl of Winterbourne. She has no idea why, or when the murder is to take place, all she does know is that she has to find the earl and warn him he’s in danger. Finding the earl isn’t a problem, resisting Sin is another matter entirely, all while trying to discover who wants him dead. The story begins in England but then moves to Scotland, the home of the hero.

Book 4 in the Regency Unlaced Series, Pursued by the Viscount, is now available for pre-order, and will be released May 27^th. Books 5 and 6 will follow in July and August 2016.

Carole Mortimer: Checking in

Happy March, Everyone!

I’m going away for ten days to Majorca this month, for a much needed break with my husband and youngest son, after the rush and bustle of Christmas and the long wet winter in the UK. We actually had our first snow of winter yesterday. Just a flurry, with more expected tomorrow. I love the snow, which is strange because my star sign is Leo, and we’re supposed to love the sun not the cold. I know snow causes chaos, on the roads and airports etc, but I just love to see that carpet of white on the ground. It always makes me smile.

March is a very busy month book-wise for me, with two books being released. The first book is Savage Alpha (Alpha 8), released on March 2nd. This is the last book in the contemporary Alpha Series. But—I love it when there’s a ‘but’, don’t you? 

The second book released this month, on March 1st, is the introductory novella to Knight Security, the spin-off series to Alpha. The novella is called Alexandre (Knight Security 0.5), and it is out in an anthology, titled Royals & Rogues, with four other bestselling authors, Susan Stephens, Shelli Stevens, Heather Long, and J C Makk. We all had such a lot of fun putting this anthology together.

Interesting fact—I was contacted on Facebook yesterday by Vikkas, the model for the cover of Savage Alpha. I’m still swooning. He is so nice¸as well as being hot, hot, hot. He loved the cover of Savage Alpha, and just wanted to tell me so.  

Coming up next month I have the release of Taken by the Earl (Regency Unlaced 3) on April 2nd. Followed by Pursued by the Viscount (Regency Unlaced 4), release date May 27th. Carole Mortimer: Regency Romances

Happy (slightly early) Valentine’s Day, Everyone.

I love Valentine’s Day. Even after all these years of being together, my husband and I always send each other a card. And somehow, each year, we manage to find that perfect one that says exactly how we feel about each other. Peter is my soul-mate, I am his. I truly hope that you have all found that in your own life too.

This month I thought I would talk about my Regency Romances, most especially my new series, Regency Unlaced. I’ve been a fan of the Regency since reading my first Georgette Heyer novel when I was 11 – what can I say, I was a precocious child! My very favorite Heyer novel is Regency Buck, and I tend to reread it once a year. Because of my love for reading books set in the Regency period, 1811-1820, in 2009 I decided I would like to write books in that period, as well as my contemporaries. I’ve now written 25 Regencies for Harlequin. And November 2015 saw the publication of The Duke’s Mistress, the 1^st novella in my very own Regency Unlaced series.

An Author’s note: the novellas in the Regency Unlaced series are much hotter, and the language more explicit, than in my previous Regency novels. (I believe the “Unlaced” part in the title of this series speaks for itself!)

This above note is on the blurb to all the novellas in this series, because they really are steaming hot, and the use of language is applicable to the period too.

To my great joy, The Duke’s Mistress has been wonderfully received by readers – thank you so much for your emails and reviews, I really appreciate them. January 29^th saw the publication of the 2^nd novella in the series, Claimed by the Marquis (Regency Unlaced 2) and this has been just as warmly received. The 3^rd novella, Taken by the Earl, is now available for pre-order, and will be published April 2^nd.

So what’s coming up next, you’re probably wondering. Well at least 5 more Regencies before the end of 2016, the start of a new contemporary series, title Knight Security, and an anthology with 4 other great authors, coming out very soon. Somewhere in there I will also be spending time with my wonderful husband and family – oh, and sleeping occasionally too, I hope!
