Eve Gaddy: A Whiskey River Christmas

Three of my friends and I were chatting about writing a connected series and set it in Whiskey River, Texas. We talked about how fun it would be to write a riff on Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. But our series isn’t exactly like that. Our ghost is a matchmaking ghost.

Our matchmaking ghost first appears in Julia Justiss’s A Texas Christmas Past, set in 1918 and 1919. A Texas Christmas Reunion by Eve Gaddy, A Texas Christmas Homecoming by Nancy Robards Thompson, and Once Upon a Texas Christmas by Katherine Garbera are set concurrently, so you’ll be able to read them in any order you want. Come experience the Christmas Ball at the Harwood Inn, Christmas on the Square, Floats, Boats and Whiskey Barrels, and lots of other Christmas fun and romance. And last but not least, a ghost who is determined to help bring people together with the magic of Christmas.

Years ago, Harlan Sullivan broke Savannah Taylor’s heart. Now he’s back in Whiskey River as the new owner of the local construction company--and Savannah’s new boss. Giving up Savannah was the hardest thing Harlan ever had to do, but it’s way past time to explain why he did.  Besides, after fourteen years, they have both moved on.  Or so he thinks—until their unexpected meeting at Felicity’s Christmas Ball shocks him into realizing his buried feelings—and secret passion—are very much alive.

As long as she keeps a tight grip over her emotions, Savannah is confident she can weather having her old flame become her new boss.  She’s even willing to indulge the desire that time seems to have intensified.  But there’s no way she will let Harlan anywhere close to her heart.

Harlan soon realizes he wants more from the sexy, sultry Savannah than a temporary affair and sets out to convince her that this time, their love will last forever. But it will take a bit of Christmas magic from the Harwood Inn ghost to bring this reluctant banker’s daughter and determined Barrels Bad Boy to their happily-ever-after.

Eve Gaddy: Writing Yourself into a Corner

I’m sure you’ve heard of painting yourself into a corner. I write myself into a corner. What do I mean by that? Well, it happens especially when I’m writing a series.

Brian Kincaid’s job as a security system troubleshooter is perfect for a single guy who loves women and world travel.  But his carefree lifestyle comes to a screeching halt when he discovers he’s an instant father--the only parent of a ten-month-old son he never knew he had.

Hiring single mom Faith McLain as his son’s live-in nanny seems like the perfect solution to regaining his free-roaming life.  Except that he begins to discover the time he spends with her and the babies is more enjoyable than he’d have believed possible. Soon, he realizes he wants much more from Faith than a working relationship.

Faith knows better than to fall for a committed bachelor—especially one who happens to be her very hot boss. But how long can she resist the whispers of her heart—or the powerful desire he awakens?

The first time I did this was with my book The Christmas Baby. This book is the sixth in a seven book series. It’s about Brian Kincaid, the youngest Kincaid brother. I’d already written books about the other brothers, along with other characters in the series. And I knew it was time to write Brian’s story. Only problem was, I had no idea what his story was.

I have this habit with characters whose books I know I’ll write but I don’t want to think about their story just yet, so I just…send them off. I made Brian a world traveler single guy with his computer troubleshooting/consulting business. That’s all I knew about him. But it was mentioned in several books so that was set in stone.

Great. What reason could this guy have to come to a tiny town like Redfish, Texas? To visit his family, sure. But why would he live there? I had to come up with a good reason. I thought about what would be the biggest life-altering event that could happen to this guy. Brian found out he had a child he’d never known about. An orphaned child who he had to take care of. And what better place to live with a ten-month-old baby than in the town with his brothers, sister and their families?

The next book I had this problem with, I really outdid myself.

He knows who she is...but she doesn't

PI Mitch Hardeman is an expert at finding people, so when Glenna Gallagher disappears from the ranch where she works, her brothers hire Mitch to find her. He thinks his job is done after he tracks her down, but Glenna doesn't know him, and she doesn't remember her brothers or even her real name. Mitch must earn the beautiful cowgirl's trust so he can bring her back home.
She doesn’t know who she is… but she knows who she wants

With traumatic amnesia caused by a bus accident, Glenna Gallagher knows nothing of her life before that day. She only knows she's in danger, and that Mitch offers protection and the truth about her identity. But once home in Marietta, her memories are still missing. Can she convince Mitch that she doesn’t need to remember her past to know he’s the only man she wants? And will she regain her memory in time to save herself and the man she loves from the danger that follows her?

The Gallaghers of Montana are a family of four brothers and a sister. I didn’t know what to do with Glenna Gallagher so I did my usual. I sent her away. But did I send her off to travel the world? And know nothing else? Why no, that would have been too easy. I sent her to Argentina to manage a cattle ranch.

Why Argentina, you ask? That was my friend Julia Justiss’s fault. I was trying to figure out what this cowgirl could be doing some place other than in Montana and Julia said, “Send her to Argentina. There are lots of ranches there.”

Argentina? Right, sounds good. So I did. But that wasn’t all. When I wrote each of the other four books, I added things about Glenna. When it came time to write Glenna’s story, I had all sorts of complexities about her and her situation in already published books. Trying to figure out her story given all the things I’d already mentioned was…difficult. Just ask my friends who endured my frantic calls and emails. And yes, Julia is one of them. Serves her right for sending Glenna to Argentina in the first place!

Glenna disappeared from the ranch where she worked in Argentina in the second book of the series. I dribbled in bits and pieces of her story in the rest of the books too. You’d think I’ve have had a good idea by then of what Glenna’s story was.

Not so much. By the time I wrote Glenna’s book, I had to include all sorts of things because they’d been in previous books. You’d think I’d have learned from other situations, but no. In fact, figuring out Glenna’s book was even harder. But I did think of the PI her brothers sent to track her down, and he wound up being the hero of her story. Thank goodness I’d said very little about him, at least.:) Not that he was easy…

Return of the Cowgirl is up for pre-order at most outlets. It’s due to come out August 17, 2017. All the books in the Gallagher series can be read as stand-alone, but I think you’ll enjoy reading about the whole family and their friends.

Happy Reading!

Eve Gaddy's Redfish Chronicles

Recently, I’ve been working on publishing a series independently. It’s been fun, but it’s a lot of work, too. Publishing indie makes me really appreciate my other publishers. I never realized just how much work they do.

The Redfish Chronicles are dear to my heart. These are books first published by Harlequin and are now revised and updated. The series is set in a small town on the Texas coast, the fictional town of Redfish, Texas, which is near the real town of Port Aransas. I love the Texas coast. It’s a unique place and one I love to return to from time to time.

There are seven books in the series. They’ll be available separately and also in two box sets. (Although the second box set isn’t out yet, but it will be soon.) You can check them out and read excerpts at my website. https://www.evegaddy.net/redfish-chronicles

Trouble in Texas, the first book in the series is free. Check it out!

Trouble in Texas

Trouble comes in all guises—something undercover Fish and Wildlife Service agent Mark Kincaid knows better than most. Recovering from a gunshot wound in the tiny coastal town of Redfish, Texas the last thing he expects to find is trouble…especially of the female variety.

Wild bird rehabilitator Cat Randolph loves everything about birds, especially saving them. So when evidence of a huge bird smuggling ring is uncovered practically in her backyard, Cat is definitely ready and willing to work with her hunky neighbor to catch the bad guys and bring them to justice.

There’s just one tiny problem—the prime suspect is Cat’s brother. Mark knows he has to choose between busting the smugglers he’s been chasing for years and having Cat.

And what should have been a simple choice is the hardest one he’s ever had to make.

There is far more to do than I ever imagined prior to publishing this series myself. Covers, editing, promotion, uploading to various platforms, all take time. I do admit that the control freak in me likes being in charge.:) On the other hand, if I screw up, it’s on me. I’ve had a lot of help from organizations and friends who have been indie publishing for quite a while now. Not to mention my partner in crime--I mean, publishing. Justine Davis, multi RITA Award winning author and the other half of SxNW Publishing.

Let me know what you think!

Eve Gaddy: The Cowboy And The Doctor

The latest book in my Gallaghers of Montana series came out about a week ago. This book is about the fourth brother, Dylan, the only one who isn’t a doctor. Dylan is a cowboy through and through. The cover is one of my favorite covers ever. It fits the book perfectly.

Dylan Gallagher loves playing the field. The only serious relationship he's ever had was with his horses and his ranch, and he had no intention of ever changing that... Until he met Dr. Samantha Striker, a challenge too tempting to resist.

Samantha Striker doesn't fall easily, not even for Dylan and his heart-melting charm. But she can't deny that the more time they spend together, the steamier their relationship becomes. Soon, she finds that their relationship is more than just simple desire.

When Samantha is threatened by a series of incidents, each one more terrifying than the last, she realizes that someone doesn't want her to be happy–with Dylan or anyone else. Can they find the man responsible before his actions turn from dangerous to deadly, and Dylan loses the women he's discovering he can't live without?

Here’s a picture of my inspiration for Trouble, the Norwegian Fjord stallion who plays an important part in Dylan and Sam’s story. I fell in love with this horse’s mane.:)

And here’s a picture of Shadow, the dog Sam adopts and who also plays an important part in the story.

Eve Gaddy: Redfish Chronicles

Just recently, I dipped my toes into the world of indie publishing. The rights to a series I wrote were returned to me and I decided to republish the books. It’s been a fascinating experience and thankfully, I had a lot of help along the way.

I started by revising and updating the books, then had them edited again. This series, a mixture of contemporary romance and romantic suspense, is very dear to my heart. It’s set in the fictional town of Redfish, Texas, near Port Aransas on the Texas coast.

I love the Texas coast. I spent a lot of time down near Port Aransas and other places along the coast several years ago and still visit there occasionally. The Texas coast, like Texas itself, is unique. Yes, I’m a native Texan and I love my state.:)

Before I go any further, the first book in Redfish Chronicles, Trouble in Texas, is FREE on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, iBooks, and Kobo

Eve Gaddy: Promotion

Yes, I decided to tackle this bug-a-boo for my blog this month. Promotion is very hard for a lot of writers, and particularly with self-publishing so popular now, it’s very necessary.

Non-writers, think about this. No matter how modest, or unsure, or private of a person she may be, a writer is supposed to toot her own horn about her books. Loudly. A lot. It takes a lot of getting used to, especially for an introvert, as many writers are. “Read my book! It’s wonderful!” We’re supposed to come up with clever ways to say this. And do it without doing it too much. No one wants to be beaten over the head with posts ad nauseum about buying a writer’s books. Yet if we don’t advertise and talk about our books no one notices and then we don’t sell any and that’s no fun at all.

So how do we let people know we have a book out that is just published, or free, or sale price or whatever? I have an email newsletter. That’s one way and it isn’t as painful as some, since (hopefully!) the people on my list actually want to hear from me. I post on Twitter and Facebook. I ask my friends to share. But is that enough?

Not according to conventional wisdom. There are a kajillion ways to advertise and trying to figure out the best is extremely difficult. Especially for the writer who really just wants to write. We lament having to do other stuff. Oh, we love to talk to readers, but that’s fun. For many of us, having to wear a number of hats--promoter, publisher, author, techie person--is one of the hardest things we do. There’s also the fact that what works for one writer might not work for another.

I have to say, when I post about deals for my books or my friends’ books on Facebook, I’m often thanked for letting people know. That makes me a lot more willing to post, since I figure if people are reading my author page, then they’re interested in books. And who doesn’t like free or sale books?

Readers, how do you like to be alerted about books? Newsletters? Facebook? Twitter? BookBub? Goodreads? Advertisements? If you follow an author on BookBub you’ll get updates when they have a new book out or one on special. Why yes, I have my BookBub page right here! Thanks for asking! https://www.bookbub.com/authors/eve-gaddy .

Where was I? Oh, yes, how readers find out about books they’d like to read. I’m sure a lot of people hear from a friend about a book the friend just read. But how did your friend hear about the book?

You can get an ebook of Texas Cowboy free for a limited time at your favorite outlet-- BookBub has all the links. And if you’re inclined, you can follow me too.

Here are the rest of the books in the series. You can find them with all the links at each author’s BookBub page.

Eve Gaddy: Inspiration

Whenever I start a new book I look for pictures of people who might be inspiration for my hero and heroine. I'll add in other secondary characters--people, dogs, cats, horses. I also find pictures of settings, such as the beach, the mountains, a ranch or wherever the book is set. I look for houses, images of something important in the book, or clothes the characters might wear. I use Scrivener to write in now and it makes importing pictures so easy. I also use Pinterest to make a private board for each book. As soon as the book is published I’ll make the board public.

My most recent book, The Cowboy and the Doctor, is coming out in May. It’s the fourth Gallagher brother’s story. Dylan is the only one of the guys who isn’t a doctor. He’s very much the cowboy. I had so much fun with the pictures for it. I now know a lot about Norwegian Fjords, the type of horses Dylan raises. And I have lots of pictures too. Since there were dogs in the story, I had to look for them too.

I have several pictures of the hero but this one is the picture that inspired me every time I looked at it. It fits Dylan Gallagher perfectly.

Samantha should be in scrubs but I couldn’t find a picture of a woman in scrubs that I liked.:)

When I got the mock up of the cover I fell absolutely in love with it! Talk about perfect for the book!

Do pictures ever inspire your imagination? Do you ever see a picture and make up a story to go with it? It doesn't have to be a picture of a person. There are all sorts of images that spark my imagination. What about you?

Eve Gaddy: Animals in Romance

Do you like animals in the romances you read? I love to have animals in my books. In fact, I have them in almost every book. Not quite every single book, but definitely the majority of my books feature animals. Either in a prominent role or simply as a pet who’s around but may not have a big role.

I write a lot of dogs. I love dogs. They can be so fun to write about. I have a dog of my own named Ellie, who is an ancient Cocker Spaniel who at times looks like an Ewok.

Here’s my sweet Golden Retriever, Maverick, who passed a few years ago. I still miss him!

I have written books with cats in them too, but I confess, most of the time I write about dogs. And horses. But I plan to have more cats and maybe a few other species in my future books.

There’s a dog named Shadow in my work in progress. He’s a Labrador/German Shepherd mix. Here’s a picture of Shadow:

Shadow plays an important role in my next book, The Cowboy and the Doctor. It should be out in May. What role, you ask? You’ll have to read the book.:) It’s the fourth book in the Gallaghers of Montana series. Here’s the cover. (I just got it!) The horse on the cover is the one Dylan rides all the time, named Hawkeye.

There’s also another horse who is important, Dylan Gallagher’s Norwegian Fjord Stallion, named . . . Trouble.

I have another book, and another cowboyJ, who has a gorgeous horse named Smoke. Here’s my inspiration for this stallion. You can see a lot of pictures at this website, if you’re interested. Rocky Steeldust. They call this color grullo.

You can read about Trey Kelly, Whiskey River and Smoke, along with his heroine Ariana Wright and her dogs, in Texas Cowboy. It’s going to be free everywhere come February 1.

Come see me and chat with me on the Internet at these places. Join my newsletter if you want to know more about my upcoming releases and special deals. You also get a free book when you join.:) http://www.eepurl.com/boxz6f

Do you like animals in your romances? Let me know in the comments and I’ll pick one commenter to get a free copy of Love Me, Cowgirl. Yes, there are animals in it, too. Honey Jordan is a barrel racer and her hero, Dr. Sean Gallagher, happens to be a horse whisperer as well as a doctor.

Eve Gaddy: Pinterest Fun

Since it’s the day after Christmas I thought I’d talk about fun things. Pinterest is ridiculously addicting. I use it for my books and I use it because I like to pin all kinds of things. I try not to go there unless I’m looking for something specific for a book. Even then, I start looking and the next thing I know, it’s three hours later and I haven’t yet looked at whatever I went to Pinterest for in the first place.

Case in point, I went to Pinterest to see what kind of boards I have so I could write this blog. And there was a picture of Karl Urban on my home page. Of course, I had to pin it because, well, Karl Urban. I’m following a Karl Urban board that has 1.5K pictures of Karl Urban. No, I haven’t looked at all of them. Yet.

I have a board for each book. I usually keep it secret until the book is close to being finished. Besides hero and heroine inspiration, I pin their clothes, houses, and usually something to do with their work. Anything I might find useful for that book. Horses, dogs, ranches, barns, offices all have a place on my book boards. For one of my Whiskey River boards I pinned a pool table that is in the Kelly Brothers ranch house. This one gets re-pinned a lot. It really helps me to describe something if I have a picture to look at. Before Pinterest I cut them out of magazines, but Pinterest is easier and there’s so much to look at.

I have boards named Cool Things, Cool Places, Funny stuff, Lions and Tigers and Dogs and . . . , Space, and Skies. And an Inspiration board--Did I mention Karl Urban? Aka Nick from Last Shot. And Joe Manganiello, who is definitely hero material. He’s inspiration for a future book with a hero named Gabe.

Karl Urban (Nick)

Joe Manganiello (Gabe)
Here’s, Dylan, the hero for my current book.

And here’s his horse named Trouble.

Some pictures I pick because they’re so pretty. Like these

However, the pin of mine that’s been re-pinned the most often is this one. It’s from Katherine Garbera’s and my Whiskey River Texas Heirs board-- https://www.pinterest.com/evegaddy/whiskey-river-texas-heirs/

How about you? Do you use Pinterest? If you do, what kinds of things do you like to pin?

Eve Gaddy: Christmas is coming!

Christmas is coming! I know you're all out shopping on Black Friday. No? I'm not either! I figure if you're reading this there's a good chance you're not shopping.

I have a number of friends who adore this day. They get all their Christmas shopping done and for a good price. Sometimes they get amazing bargains. But the few times I tried to shop on Black Friday were not a success. First, I'm very short. When you're as short as I am, you are eye level with most people's elbows. Consequently, I really don't like crowds.

The second thing. I've talked before about my problems with organization. Sometimes I know several things I want to get for friends and family early. But that's rare. I think you need to go with specific things in mind that you want to buy. I don't usually manage that. Besides, I like to Christmas shop but I don't want to do it until closer to Christmas. If I do it early I feel kind of lost for the month of December.

Third thing. This is a biggie. I can't think of any reason to voluntarily get up at two or three in the morning to stand in line in the cold darkness.

Are you a Black Friday shopper? Do you love it, hate it or don't care? Make a comment and I'll select one winner for my Christmas book, The Doctor's Christmas Proposal. This is Wyatt Gallagher's story. Here's a peek at the cover. If you want to see more, check out my webpage, www.evegaddy.net.  Available at all digital retailers.

Eve Gaddy: Christmas Books

I have a Christmas book coming out November 17. I'm very excited about it for a number of reasons. The Doctor's Christmas Proposal was so fun to write. Set in Marietta, Montana, there are scenes from Marietta's Christmas Stroll, the Christmas Ball and lots of other Marietta specialties. This is Wyatt Gallagher's story, the third Gallagher brother who is also a doctor.

This is only the second Christmas book I've written. The first came out in 2007, so it seemed like time for another. Especially since I loved writing the first one. Wyatt is sorely in need of a little Christmas magic, and he hopes he can find it with his best friend, Mia Watson.

Betrayed by his ex-fiancée, Dr. Wyatt Gallagher turns to the one woman he can always trust – his best friend, Mia Watson. After moving away, Wyatt has realized he wants more than friendship with the beautiful artist. With that in mind, he convinces Mia to come to Marietta for the Christmas holidays. But wooing Mia is surprisingly difficult — especially given the passionate night they’ve already shared.
Though Mia Watson has loved Wyatt Gallagher for years, he’s always seen her as a friend, never a lover. Except for one unforgettable interlude when comfort turned to passion. Then Wyatt moved back to Montana, leaving Mia with an unexpected consequence of their night together–and soon, heartbreak to follow.
Faced with the fulfillment of her dreams, Mia knows she must reveal the consequences of their night together to Wyatt. But having withheld the truth for so long, will her confession destroy his trust in her, ending their friendship and any hope of a future together?

Check out more about The Doctor's Christmas Proposal and my other books at my website, www.evegaddy.net .

What is one of your Christmas traditions? Make a comment and I'll pick one winner for a digital copy of The Doctor's Christmas Proposal when it becomes available. Or if you prefer, I can send you a digital copy of Love Me, Cowgirl right now! I'll post the winner in the comment section here and also on my FaceBook page, www.facebook.com/EveGaddyAuthor .

Eve Gaddy: Love Me, Cowgirl

I'm lucky enough to be part of the 78th Copper Mountain Rodeo Series, coming to you this fall from Tule Publishing. My book, Love Me, Cowgirl, will be out September 29, 2016.

Disillusioned with love, Dr. Sean Gallagher returns to Marietta to join its expanding medical facility. Marietta’s newest, most eligible bachelor isn’t looking for long-term involvement – especially not with his brother’s much-younger former girlfriend, Honey Jordan. But short term? That’s another matter.

Escaping a toxic relationship with her father, barrel racer Honey spends as little time as possible in Marietta. Home for the 78th Annual Copper Mountain Rodeo, a brief fling with the town’s hottest new doc might be just the thing to distract her until she can leave again.

But when a riding accident strands Honey in Marietta, an affair meant to last a few nights turns into something much deeper, leaving both Sean and Honey torn between the safety of saying goodbye and the heartache of losing what they dare not admit they’ve found — one true and lasting love.
I had so much fun writing Love Me, Cowgirl. I'm from Fort Worth, Texas, home of the Fort Worth, Texas, Stock Show and Rodeo--it was the Fat Stock Show and Rodeo when I was younger and I can't help but think of it that way. I went to the rodeo every year when I was growing up. Barrel racing was one of my favorite events.

I've been married to a doctor for a long time, and I always enjoy writing about people in the medical profession. I always have a soft spot for my heroes and Sean Gallagher definitely rates a giant soft spot.

Honey Jordan is a heroine who knows what she wants and goes after it. Only problem is, she doesn't believe she can have a long-term relationship, since she can't stick around Marietta for more than a couple of weeks at a time.

But that's fine with Dr. Sean Gallagher, ER doc, recently returning to Marietta to practice. Sean and Honey have a few surprises coming their way once Honey is sidelined by injury and stuck in Marietta.

I've written about cowboys, cowgirls and rodeos in the past. Cowboy Come Home is one of my favorite books. The hero, Jake Rollins is a retired saddle bronc champion and his heroine, Anna Leigh Connor, teaches barrel racing.

But it's been a while since I wrote that one, so researching about rodeos, and especially barrel racing, was definitely important. Not to mention, fun.

I can't wait until September 29 when Love Me, Cowgirl is released!

The 78th Copper Mountain Rodeo

By Jeannie Watt

Hey everyone and Happy Wednesday! I am so totally excited for the upcoming Tule Publishing Copper Mountain Rodeo series! The 75th Copper Mountain Rodeo was the first series published by Tule and were the books that had me coming back for more.  Now I'm part of the more! Crazy how things work, eh?

The 78th Copper Mountain Rodeo series goes on sale in September and I want to share the fantastic covers-- which Lee created. I'm a little in love with all of them.

Catch Me, Cowboy by Jeannie Watt  - September 8

She will not be his second choice…

When champion bronc rider Ty Harding returns home after four long years on the road, the first thing he does is look up Shelby O’Connor—the woman who begged him to stay. The woman he still loves.

Horse trainer Shelby O’Connor truly believes she’s over Ty—until he shows up on her family ranch and turns her world upside down. Shelby isn’t a big one for second chances, but she’s all about proving that she and Ty are done. But when she discovers that Ty plans to head back out on the rodeo circuit, despite his injuries, she has to come to terms with the fact that maybe she isn’t as over him as she thought she was. And now she has to decide what to do about that.

Will history repeat itself, or will Ty and Shelby get another chance at love?

Protect Me, Cowboy by Shelli Stevens -- September 15

With his competing days behind him, Wyatt Marshall has settled into ranching life in Marietta, Montana. But with the Copper Mountain Rodeo, his only exception, just around the corner, the last thing he needs is a distraction – especially one in the form of a pretty, yet vaguely familiar country singer.

For Claire Miller, it’s been almost a year since she fled Las Vegas with only her purse and the clothes on her back, and she’s been laying low in Montana with a new image. When she and her country band travel to perform in the small town of Marietta, she doesn’t plan on getting stranded there for several days. Or for an innocent offer to stay at a nearby ranch to turn out to be more than she bargained for: she recognizes its owner to be the same sexy cowboy she got hot and heavy with – then stood up – in Vegas.

With the passion flaring between them and Wyatt getting closer to putting the pieces together, Claire is ready to run again, not knowing the danger that sent her fleeing in the first place is close on her heels.

Want Me, Cowboy by Sinclair Jayne -- September 22

All around cowboy Luke Wilder only came into Grey’s Saloon for a beer. Instead he ends up in a fight with a brother he never met and dumped by a fiery red haired bull breeder he only asked to dance. So much for keeping a low profile. But Luke is stubborn. And no woman’s ever said no to him twice, in business or pleasure.

Tanner McTavish is more focused on breeding bulls at the next level of IBR than in making out with cowboys, unless that cowboy is Luke Wilder. She’s secretly pined to catch his eye at several rodeos, but this Copper Mountain Rodeo is Tanner’s chance to chase a stock deal with the IBR. Things look to be all business, but looks can be deceiving, and Tanner’s never played it safe…

Can Tanner lasso her cowboy home for good?

Love Me, Cowgirl by Eve Gaddy  -- September 29

Does anyone have a favorite out of these four? I have a hard time choosing, so I'm going to go with my own. Thanks, Lee, for such a great representation for our stories!

Eve Gaddy: RWA 2016

Every summer Romance Writers of America has a huge conference. This year it was held in beautiful San Diego, California. Over 2000 authors and publishing and industry professionals meet for workshops on everything from the mechanics of writing, to experts in various fields discussing their professions and how they might relate to characters, to things like promoting your books and social media. We network with agents, editors, publishers, and other writers. We attend the RITA and Golden Heart awards ceremony (Romance Writers most well-known contest). I love the RWA National conference for a variety of reasons, but the main one is I get to see my friends, many of whom I only see once or twice a year.

Left to Right: Katherine Garbera, Eve Gaddy and Julia Justiss

Left to Right; Eve Gaddy, Nancy Robards Thompson, Julia Justiss
My friends and I correspond online all the time, we FaceTime, we talk on the phone, but meeting in person is wonderful. And it can be magical. There's something about being around a lot of other writers, talking writing, thinking writing, and breathing writing that makes the air crackle with creative energy. (Chocolate also helps.:) And as my friend Julia Justiss puts it, we get to be writers. Just writers. We're not working another job, we're not moms, wives or grandmothers. (Unless our family comes with us.)

If we get to the conference early enough we might go sight-seeing. Or shopping. This year I didn't get to do as much since I managed to break my toe the first full day I was there. First thing in the morning, yet. Stupid doorstop! (Seriously. Broke my toe.) So I spent a lot of the first couple of days I was there in my room with my foot propped up. I did manage to hobble down to the bookstore on the waterfront.

And I went to some dinners and parties.

All in all it was a fun and rewarding conference. I saw old friends, met new ones, and even managed to write some. And when I came home I got the beautiful cover for my newest book, Love Me, Cowgirl, which will be out this fall.
