I’m very pleased to announce that my story Undone, in the anthology Unlaced, won the National Readers Choice Award, novella category. This was very special to me because it’s the last year that my critique partner Terri Schaefer is running the contest and she finally got to present the award to me. I’ve been a finalist 3 times before this but have never won. Always a bridesmaid, never a bride! Until now. Here’s a photo of me and my good friend Veronica Wolff. She also won! Whoohoo to us both.
The girls and I (Jaci Burton, Joey Hill, and Denise Rossetti) have another “Unlaced” anthology coming out in February. Just in time for Valentines! This one will be called Laced with Desire and my story is La Petite Mort. Fearing the results of a surgery which might prove she has cancer, Sophia lets go of her inhibitions before she loses the chance forever. Her hunky hero Ford Connelly helps her fulfill her desires. I love the story because it taps into the universal fear that we’ll be struck down by tragedy before we’ve done the things in life that we’ve always wanted to. It’s about making sure we don’t have regrets because we ignored an opportunity or were too afraid to try something. Like jumping out of plane in freefall! With a chute, of course.

Anyone out there have something they’d like to do before it’s too late? For those of you who want to leave a comment (please leave your email address so I can contact you), I’ll put you in for a drawing of an autographed copy of Unlaced. I’ll also add you to my newsletter for updates on Yours for the Night, Hers for the Evening, Laced with Desire and other releases.
