I'm so thrilled to have a new
book out this month - A Precious Inheritance - which is book #4 of Harlequin
Desire's The Highest Bidder continuity. Here’s the blurb:

This book is my very first with
all-American characters, and an all-American setting. Now, while I'd love
to be able to jet across the world and do some hands-on research, I have no
billionaire alpha love interest to indulge me :-) So I had to be
satisfied with the internet and Google Earth.
Can I tell you how much I looove
Google Earth? It's like armchair (or computer chair) travelling for the
cash strapped. Want a view of New York's One Madison Park where Chase, my
hero, runs his empire? Or a pedestrian eye view of Silver Spring,
Maryland where Vanessa, my heroine, lives and works? Or the turns you
have take to navigate downtown Washington? Google Earth have you covered.
I also spent hours browsing the
Library of Congress site http://www.loc.gov,
figuring out where to place my fictitious Tomb of the Missing Pharoahs
exhibition. I went searching to find out if Georgia really had cattle
ranches and where they'd be (apparently there's a good one just 1 hour north of
Atlanta). And of course, the Forbes website <http://www.forbes.com> is a fabulous place
to check out penthouses, luxury items and all things the mega rich spend their
money on.
All the research made me hanker
to visit New York for real! So while I wait for my bank balance to catch
up to my ever-growing wishlist, I'm making a list of places to visit and things
to see. I'd love to hear your suggestions.

ReplyDeleteWhere to start Paula! A must do is the helicopter ride up (or is it down)the Hudson and around Lady Liberty (get the front seat next to the pilot - even better when he's hot), then Central Park (day time), sitting on the steps of Penn St station at 2am with a box of pizza slices will get you ALL sorts of interesting conversations (we did this 3 nights in a row and had return visitors) - did you know that police horses like pizza? His rider didn't until he stole the last slice. Window shopping at Tiffany's is swoon worthy and you have to experience walking 'just a block or so' in NY directions - it ended up being a 45 minute walk there and a subway ride back but a load of fun. AND do it with a 6'3", good looking guy wearing an Akubra! The number of times 'Now that's a knife' was uttered was mind-blowing.

DeletePaula since food is my weakness and since I'v never been to New York other than via the internet, I'd say put a visit to Maria Loi who is a celebrity chef in Greece, on your list. She has opened a restaurant in New York called Loi. (shhhh she's also my husbands cousin).

ReplyDeleteI've never been to NYC but my niece works at the Intrepid Museum. She loves it and it does sound interesting. Central Park. Broadway!! The huge toy store! American Girl store. Macy's!

bueno, Natalija! I love, love, love Italy. It is simply gorgeous. I remember a beautiful train ride through the countryside, although I was backpacking at the time and completely exhausted, so I'd need to go back to make sure ;-)
DeleteThere are two trips I made that will always be fond memories: Wales/Scotlan for the nature and Rome for the history.

recent. I really enjoyed seeing sites which

DeleteHow about "The Honeymoon Capital of the World" - Niagara Falls (I'm partial to the one in Ontario, Canada - as there is the US side and Canadian side of Niagara Falls)?

DeleteThe 'Goldleaf" train trip is on my bucket list too Paula. It was the trip my late husband and I never got to take (he passed 7 months before we were booked to go) but I will do it - some day. You would love it - the scenery & service is said to be exceptional.

DeleteI'm from Calgary, Canada and I travel by Google all the time. Love seeing your part of the world on the web. Add Banff National Park to your travel list. It's just an hour away from home but the people you meet on the streets are truly multi-national. The scenery is spectacular in MHO.

Visited Norway a number of years ago, to visit relatives on my father's side of the family, was a very pretty county.

Thanks, Cathy! The Cover Gods have been good to me ;-) Scotland especially is such a gorgeous place, so full of history. England too. I loved hearing about all those kings and queens, the vikings, the Normans... Australia has more of an indigenous history, plus we have some wonderful dinosaur discoveries.
