I'm so excited that my first book, THE HOUSE ON BRIAR HILL ROAD, is released in just a few weeks. It's a book about the Conway family. About their ups and downs...about their pulling together and sadly, about them falling apart.
I was thrilled when I was afforded a chance to do a short story for eHarlequin.com. "The Moments" is tied to my October book and it starts today. It features the main characters' from the book's daughter, Livie. At the end of THOBHR, Livie said, "My mother always said life was made up of the small moments and it was punctuated by the big ones." I knew that sentence had to be the theme of her story. But how to present a broad scope to her romance in a short story? It was a challenge, and really pushed me as a writer. But I think the story shows those moments. What about you? What sort of moments do you treasure? Not the big, found-the-love-of-your-life, got-married, had-kids sort of moments. But rather the read-the-Sunday-paper-together, walk-the-dog-in-the-evenings sort. (Uh, those are two of my favorite kinds of little moments with my dh, btw! LOL)

Oh geez, I always look forward to the quiet moments that I can read, however much I can shove into those moments. :)

Since my children are older now it's rare that the four of us are together but I like those moments when we all are and I can see my whole family.

Anytime I spend with my mother... she is my best-friend and we don't see each other as often as we want.

ReplyDeleteAll this talk of ice cream and chocolate is making me hanker for some! The moments that I cherish the most are when my husband and I just watch a movie together while snuggling next to one another on the couch. Also, I love waking up to a sunny day and making my bed in the sunshine! I love the sun since I live in the North & cherish times spent in the sun. I just love to lay in the sun and soak up the rays!
Talking about having something in my hands that makes me happy is a good book! I love to read! I read every night while laying in bed. That is a happy time!

ReplyDeleteErie doesn't lack for sun in the summer, but in the winter, grey is more our color, so I totally get the sun. And snuggling with dhs is always nice!
And books...well, let's just say, I had to buy yet another bookshelf this summer. And it's filled. SIGH. Books I totally get! LOL

I have small children, a 4 year old boy and a 11 month old baby girl and every day is a day of discovery for them. They are so much fun to watch. Each moment is so precious and I treasure them in my heart.

ReplyDeleteThanks so much for checking out the short story! I was quite the Barbie freak as a child. Actually, I think that's where my love of storytelling manifested then. My dolls had elaborate "stories."
And I'm with you! I don't go anywhere without a book. There's even one in my car's glove box, just in case I'm stuck waiting for kids!

Since my children live about 800 miles from me I'd say the times I most look forward to are the twice yearly weekend visits with them. But, on a closer to home and daily basis, reading a book is my favorite pleasure and if my hips could stand it...add a box of good chocolates to the mix!

When it quiet, I can sit back without interruption and just read. I love reading; I can get so lost in the book I'm reading. My husband has come up to me so many times; you'd think I'd be use to it by now. He'd just touch me on my shoulder and I'd shriek and come up out of the chair, of course he’d just laugh at me.
