The Art of the Cover

Coming SOON!!!
The last couple weeks, I've been talking to readers and groups about covers.  You know the saying...a rose by any other name would smell as sweet?  I'm not sure that applies to books and covers.  As a reader I've had covers that entice me to pick up a book and at least read the back cover blurb.

As a writer, I've had some awesome covers...and I've had some stinkers.  I'm not sure that readers know that writers don't get final say (sometimes ANY say) on covers, titles and those back cover blurbs.  That's right, we don't...it's considered marketing.

But I know that sometimes what marketing people think readers like is totally different than what they like!

So what kind of cover do you like??  I have a few more books coming out this year and will have at least some input on the covers.  I'd like to know what you prefer!!

Frankly, no matter what the cover or the title (I've had some great ones of those and a few stinkers, too) the stories are mine.  Whether comedy or drama, romance or mystery, women's fiction or contemporary romance...  They're me.  They're stories from my heart...that hopefully will touch your heart.

Dusted

So which of my covers are your favorites?  Which not so much??  I'd really appreciate the help!!

Holly

PS. The covers were all in a neat line until I loaded the blog...sigh.  So forgive the mess!

Cinderella Wore Tennis Shoes is a really cute cover, it has a lot of personality to it. An image that's kind of unique like that, and hints at the tone of the book, plus the pop of pink, definitely catches my eye. When there are couples on a cover, I prefer ones like Cinderella Wore Tennis Shoes, or some of the others you have where faces are left at least a little obscured, so there's still some room for your words and my imagination to work together to picture the characters.

Summer, That's a great point. I really like the ones that allow me to picture the couples my own way! Thank you for the input!!
