Yvonne Lindsay: What Price a Secret?

Hi everyone.

First, I’d like to say a huge thanks to Lee for inviting me here to talk about my upcoming release, THE HIGH PRICE OF SECRETS. I absolutely love this book; in fact, I love the entire series it’s a part of.

The idea for The Master Vintners series came while I was visiting the amazing Trish Morey in Adelaide, South Australia, a few years back. Not far from where she lives is a burned out stone Gothic mansion, Marble Hill. When I first heard about the ruin, which was originally a summer residence for the Governor of South Australia, I was intrigued. I love old buildings and ruins and I adore imagining the secrets they hold about the families who have lived there. Marble Hill was built in 1879 but was destroyed in massive bush fires in 1955. It got me to thinking about what it would be like for a family who had lived in such a place for generations to lose everything in a devastating fire. It didn’t take long to dream up a backstory for this imaginary family and for the tendrils to then develop further out past the Adelaide hills and surrounds out to New Zealand. Creating a dynasty of vintners has been a whole lot of fun, but not without its challenges, of course. I feel as if I’ve lived with these people in my head for so long now, that they’ve become like friends.

In THE HIGH PRICE OF SECRETS, Tamsyn Masters is on a quest. She’s determined to find the mother she grew up believing was dead and who, she and her brother discovered (in ONE SECRET NIGHT Desire, March 2013,) has been very much alive all these years. After another devastating let down, Tamsyn decides it’s time to take her life into her own hands and her quest takes her to her mother’s last known address in New Zealand. But when she arrives, determined to find answers, she meets Finn Gallagher, and discovers he’s the one man on earth equally as determined to prevent her from meeting her mother.

Each book in The Master Vintners series stands as one that can be read alone but if the family’s dynamic grabs you, you can still order the e-versions of the previous books in the series. You can visit my website http://www.yvonnelindsay.com and click on the books page for more titles.

Or, you could comment below to go into the draw for one lucky winner to receive signed copies of each of the previous three Master Vintner stories! So, how about it? Do you like family sagas and enjoy seeing their secrets unraveled? Or maybe you, like me, love old buildings and imagining the lives that were lived there in past times.

I've been inside the Pabst Mansion in Milwaukee, Villa Louis State Historical site home a fur trader's home In Prairie Du Chien Wisconsin along the Mississippi River, the Old Wade House ( a wayside inn) near Plymouth Wisconsin, the Rahr -West Museum in Manitowoc , Wisconsin features the gorgeous, turn of the century home of Joseph Vilas, Jr . Loved the rich wood, the chandeliers, the fireplaces, the furniture... it took me back in time!
I do love family sagas Susan Mallery, Debbie Macomber, Susan Wiggs, Julia Quinn, Carly Philllips, Kate Hoffmann all showcase wonderful family sagas.

I'd love to read your Master's vintner's family saga! Congrats on the release of Tamsyn's story, THE HIGH PRICE OF SECRETS!

I like family books with secrets that become series. To find out what happens to characters after their book ends is interesting. The only old buildings I've ever seen were old castles in Germany, that was interesting!

I enjoy reading about families and learning about their ancestors. It's a way to get more involved with the dynamics of the story.

Hi Laurie, thanks for your congrats!

I love that the furnishings of older homes take you back in time, too! The homes sound fascinating. What a history they must have.

Oooh, Cindy, old castles sound wonderful. I've seen the exterior of a few but I've never been inside one. And I totally agree with you, I love finding out what's happening with characters after *their* book has ended, too.

More books is always good, isn't it, Erin? I've loved Jane Porter's Brennan Sisters, although I still can't get The Good Wife on Kindle here in New Zealand yet. Hopefully by Christmas!

Another great looking book that I can not wait to get my hands on. I just love the cover of this book. I think in honor of this book, just because a vineyard was mentioned I will need to go hunt down some great Australian Wine to go with this book. LOL Congratulations on the book! I simply LOVE all your books!

Your new book sounds great, can hardly wait to find out the
answer to the mystery! Why the separation? When on a
HS band contest trip, we got to visit the ranch house fea-
tured in the Dallas TV show. We toured and actually got to
sit on the bed in the master bedroom to have a photograph
taken. It was like being in the TV show with all my young
band buddies!

Thank you so much, keefnersa! I love this cover too! I agree, a robust Australian red or a crisp and flavorsome New Zealand white would be lovely to indulge in while you read.

What a fun memory, Pat! I hope you love reading the book .

Hi Spannergal! Thanks for your kind words. Each book stands alone so readers can read them out of order or in order, whatever they want. :-)

I love unravelling secrets, Mary. Especially when they're other people's! LOL! And yes, old buildings all carry a specific feeling of their own, I think. Sometimes lovely and warm, sometimes a little cool and aloof. Other times downright creepy!
