Shirley Jump: The Billionaire's Matchmaker

The Billionaire’s Matchmaker is not your ordinary anthology.

Let’s face it; for some readers an anthology is simply a collection of novellas.  Unless the collection features one of their favorite authors, they bypass the title in favor of a longer read.  After all, they want a full story for their money.

This mindset was very much on our minds when the four of us decided to write The Billionaire’s Matchmaker.  We knew immediately that we wanted the stories in our anthology to link together, more like a continuing series with reoccurring characters and a common thread.  Originally, the idea of a matchmaking dog started as a joke, but the more we talked about it, the more the dog lovers in us knew we had the perfect idea.

Thus we created Charlie, the matchmaking Jack Russell terrier who invades the town of Chandler Cove and brings romance to four best friends.  Charlie belongs to the Nicholas Bonaparte, or Mr. B as he’s called, the mysterious billionaire who lives on the outskirts of town, but through a series of events, ends up spending time with each of the heroines.  We liken it to a Sisterhood of the Travelling Pooch.

In many ways The Billionaire’s Matchmaker is more a novel in four parts than an anthology as Charlie’s story stretches throughout.  You have to read from beginning to end to find out what happens to the terrier as well as discover the story behind Mr. B.

Why didn’t we write a series instead of an anthology?  Simple.  We thought this format fit Charlie better.  The faster pace ensures that Charlie’s antics don’t get tiresome.  Plus, we wanted to give readers a complete read.  We didn’t want to leave them hanging over four separate books to learn Charlie’s happy ending.
So if you anthologies aren’t normally your thing, we hope you’ll change your mind and try The Billionaire’s Matchmaker.  Like we said, it’s not your ordinary anthology.  Oh, and if you like fun, sexy, emotional stories with happy endings?  You might want to try the book too.

Happy Reading!

I am with out pets at the moment, which is rather unsettling actually.

One of my favorites was a donkey that lived in the paddock next door. It would hang out over our fence all day. We did encourage it with vegetable scraps. His name was Deefa - D for Donkey. Best name ever.

Love it, Mary! The dog my family adopted while I was writing my novella is the first pet I've had as an adult. (I'm not counting goldfish, hermit crabs or dust bunnies.)

I have a wonderful small mix, dog, a rescue from Lap Dog Rescue who is adorable, smart and sensitive. Bogie is a loveable and energetic but loyal dog who can sense and feel things.

No pets since our goofy cat, Gerald, passed away some years
ago. Favorite family pet would be DD1's first Great Dane. Dakota
was with them when their first son was born and she seemed to
think she was the baby's mother! She would "guard" him and be
the first to the cribside when he cried. We even have a photo of
Dakota grooming "her" baby!

We always had stuffed animals because my husband was allergic to dog/cat fur/dander. A few years ago, though, they came out with a nose spray that worked immediately for him, and he hasn't had a runny nose since then. We can't afford a big dog like we'd like, but we DO dogsit for lots of friends.
We started with the dog in our avatar, a beautiful Golden Retriever, Austin. Dogsat him for a few years, a couple of months at a time while his owners were in China teaching. Next came a friend's Golden, Goldy, followed by another friend's terrier, Brandy. Alas, Austin (15) died, then Goldy died (11). Goldy was replaced by Ruby, another Golden, and we've dogsat her a few times in the last couple of years (now 2.5). Brandy died (17) and then the neighbour in our backyard moved in with a St. Bernard, Riley (now 2). We hop the fence and visit Riley almost daily and have watched her three times in the last six months.
We do pretty well considering that we don't have to pay vet bills or gigantic amounts of dog food, but we ARE covered in dog fur (and now drool) quite a bit....

I had a little Toy Fox Terrier name Mitzi. She even let me put my large doll's clothes on her. She didn't like other children, she would bark at them and try to nip their heels. On her birthday we would take her to White Castle - of course she got excited since you could smell that place from blocks away - since she was so small we would only let her have one burger (pickle removed). She's been gone many, many years but I still think of her whenever the subject of dogs comes up

We have a cat named Tigger, he's a rescue cat. He is one of a kind. We also have a keeshon named Annabel, she's a great dog and loves kids.

Great Danes are such fun, goofy dogs! We've had several friends who owned them.

I love Goldens! Our Golden was, by far, the best dog EVER. We talk about her all the time. Babysitting is a great option :-)

Such a sweet sounding dog! LOL about White Castle! I love those too, even if they're really bad for you!

They sound like great pets, Linda!

Aww, Laney - I wish I had your lack of vet bills. *Stares at dog with bad teeth.*

Aren't rescue pets the best? You get the satisfaction of knowing you helped an animal find a forever home AND a great pet all in one.

I'd get excited for White Castle too. Mitzi was a smart dog.

We have a cat and a dog. Our dog actually found us after our other dog died. He was crying outside our home. So we took him inside and fed him. We waited for anyone to claim him, but no one came, so we adopted him and everything is history. While our cat is our baby. He sleeps beside me! I have asthma, but that didn't stop me from taking care of him. :)
