Yvonne Lindsay – A Silken Seduction

I’m thrilled to be here and blogging about my latest release, A SILKEN SEDUCTION. Book 3 in The Highest Bidder continuity, A SILKEN SEDUCTION is set against a backdrop of mystery, scandal and intrigue of a venerable New York auction house. I adored my characters, Avery (think young Gwyneth Paltrow) and Marcus (think Paul Walker- yum!)

When an author is working on a continuity it brings new challenges, ones you don’t necessarily face when working on stand alone or series books of your own. Firstly, all the authors involved in the continuity are given a story bible, this gives an overview of the continuity with all the angles and intrigues and overall story arc. Also included are short outlines for each book in the continuity and brief character descriptions for those stories. Basically, I see my job as fleshing out that skeleton and making the story allocated to me my own. Of course the authors stay in touch with one another to ensure that continuity elements remain consistent throughout the whole process.

In A SILKEN SEDUCTION I loved getting to know Avery and Marcus. Avery is a sheltered “poor little rich girl”, perhaps a little on the naïve side, but with a backbone that is strong and a heart that is aching to love and be loved. Marcus is the guy from a blue collar background whose grandfather, his guardian, made a huge sacrifice to give Marcus every opportunity in live to be a success. Marcus is determined to repay his grandfather for his devotion and equally determined to reach his own personal goals of what he defines as success. Together they have a pretty steep learning curve about give and take, truth and honesty and, of course, love.

To give you a taste of what’s to come, here’s the back-cover blurb:

The Fine Art of Temptation…London-based artist Avery Cullen refuses to sell her late father’s art collection. But bold, brash Marcus Price will try everything to get her to reconsider. He even launches an all-out sexual siege on the lonely heiress in the gilded cage.

Securing the collection would be a coup for his auction house, but for Marcus, it would settle a lifelong score. He’s managed to keep his true motives hidden along with his family’s skeletons…and now he’s so close, he can taste success in Avery’s kiss. But after their torrid night of passion, is Marcus prepared for the outcome?

Clearly Marcus is one heck of a determined kind of guy and it got me to wondering just how far a person would be prepared to go for something they really, really wanted? I tend to be singled minded when I want something (as my husband, poor fellow, will attest.) I put what I call my man-brain on, and go at my goal with that in mind and that only. Are you like that? How important would something have to be to you to make you do whatever it took to get what you wanted? Or do you know of someone else who stopped at nothing to achieve their goal?

Out of everyone who comments, three people will be chosen to win a signed copy of A SILKEN SEDUCTION!

What a challenge to work on a continuity. It must feel amazing when it all comes together. A SILKEN SEDUCTION looks fabulous!!

Can't say that I have known someone who
would do anything to get what they
wanted. Or who, at least, would admit
to it! We were taught to work hard for
what we wanted, but it had to be done
honestly and legally.

(Or the parents would be disappointed!)

I myself, will do anything to get what I really want as long as I'm not hurting anyone, stepping into someone and not illegal. We all have choices, and if I'm just going to let that particular thing pass me by, I would just be blaming myself in the end. So let go for it! :D

By the way, thanks for mentioning Paul Walker, that guy has the word HOTNESS etched into his forehead.

If I want something bad enough I will try really hard to get it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I'm not really a very persistant type personality. I do love continuity stories and I can't wait to read The Highest Bidder stories.

I have never wanted anything badly enough to do something I would regret later and have never known anyone who would stop at nothing. The only thing I have ever wanted badly enough is for my husband's cancer to go into remission this year, when we found out that he has Stage 4 Lymphoma Cancer. We have been going back and forth to the VA Hospital here for hospitalizations, IVs, and 5 chemo treatments so far. It seems like the VA is our second home.

That's a great challenge! I would do a lot to get my a challenges done. One of my a challenges were making sure my 2 daughters study in school and stayed in school, I did not do well as I was cutting classes and getting bad grades I did finish the 12th. I can say I did great with the girls the oldest is in her 2nd year at collage and the youngest is now in the 12th grade! I'm proud of them both.
Your book sounds good. I love the Desires!

Congratulations on the new book Yvonne! I have the first two books of this continuity and will be getting the rest as they hit the shelves. I must confess I had to look Paul Walker up on the internet but the results were worth the effort. I did know what Gywneth Paltrow looks like but gave her a a quick refresher look see as well. Gorgeous couple! The couple on the cover match pretty well also.

I love that the continuity takes place around an auction house as it is a new setting. I have read books with auctioneers in them but not an auction house that I can remember.

I do like to go for things I really want but not usually to the exclusion of other people's feeling or rights. I can compromise.

If I had that tunnel vision/determination, I'd weigh fifty pounds less.

I've always been fascinated with auctions - that's why I watch those reality shows that deal with auctions & unusual finds.

It's a real privilege to work on a continuity, marybelle. I always feel honored when I'm invited to participate.

That's the key thing, isn't it, Pat? Admitting to what you were prepared to do to get something...or someone. But yes, I definitely had very much the same upbringing as you did.

Lory Lee, my point of reference, when faced with those choices you're talking about, is how sorry would I be NOT to pursue this particular opportunity. This lead me to tandem skydiving with my family from 15,000 feet earlier this year, woohoo!

And yes, totally agree with your summation of Paul Walker...swoon!

Linda, I do hope you enjoy the continuity! Thanks for popping by!

Cathy, this must be an incredibly difficult time for you all. My thoughts are with you and your husband.

Your daughters sound equally happy to take on a challenge penney! Congratulations on a great job.

Hi Kaelee! The continuity is a great one, isn't it? So glad looking up Paul Walker was worth it for you :-)

Oh crikey! Me too, Laney4, me too!

Auctions frighten me a little. I'm always worried I'd mistakenly buy something I can't afford, LOL! But I definitely like the antiques roadshows etc.

Congrts on the new release, Yvonne :)

When i want something, i will do an effort and always pray :)

Yvonne Lindsay said...

Thanks Eli. Yup, effort combined with praying to your higher power is never a bad idea. I always feel you have to show just how much you want something and how hard you're prepared to work for it to be entitled to ask for help.

Nothing is worth sacrificing my integrity for. Material possessions have never been a big want item for me. I value my family, friends and health.

I've enjoyed several of your category books for many years. I always grab your books! I'd love to read Marcus and Avery's story!!
