Introducing: The Master Vinters

In 2010 I was thrilled to be invited to speak at a South Australia Romance Authors workshop day, where I had the opportunity to present with the delightful Anna Campbell, and to spend time with one of my very best friends, Trish Morey. Once the workshops were over, Trish took a day to show Anna and I around the Adelaide Hills and a little of the surrounding area. It's beautiful county and I definitely hope to go back one day and spend more time exploring because there is so very much to see and do.
During our time there, I heard about a ruin, Marble Hill, that stood atop a hill. Once the Vice-Regal summer residence for the Governor of South Australia, from 1880 to 1955, it was destroyed by bush fire in 1955 and it remains a shell of a bygone era of glory. I spent a lot of time on the Marble Hill website, fascinated by the building, its destruction, and now plans to rebuild it to it's former elegance. Time didn't permit a visit to the ruins during our stay but hearing about the house set me to wondering what it would have been like to be a family of privilege and to see all that wealth and surrounding land destroyed, and what effect that destruction would have on that family. And so, the Masters family were born in my mind, along with delicious intrigue, lies and deception, scandal  and, most importantly, love everlasting.

THE MASTER VINTNERS series starts in February 2012 with THE WAYWARD SON and continues in March 2012 with A FORBIDDEN AFFAIR. I hope you'll enjoy reading the beginning of the series as much as I've enjoyed creating it and the characters, and that you'll look out for more books in the series next year. Leave a comment and two randomly drawn names from the comments will each receive an autographed copy of THE WAYWARD SON (International entries welcomed.)

Yvonne

***Di and Marybelle won!!  Each will receive a copy of The Wayward Son.  Congratulations!!  Please email totebag@authorsoundrelations.com with your full name and mailing address!***

Hi Debby and thanks. And yes, wineries have a definite romantic air, don't they?

Yvonne Lindsay said...

Hmm, my earlier reply to you seems to have disappeared. How odd. Anyway...thanks for the congrats, Jane. I'm looking forward to plotting the next two books in the series!

I really enjoy these Harlequin Desire books & having some set around Wineries sounds interesting (I love to visit wineries & try some samples). I'd love to get to Australia someday & wineries would be on my 'to visit list'.

It is beautiful up in the Adelaide Hills. It's been a while since I was there. I do not recall the ruin at Marble Hill. Given the opportunity I will check it out.

Beautiful cover!

I always associate a winery with the owner's love, devotion and dedication to the grapes. I can only imagine the intensity he could apply to a relationship.

I want to know how Judd and Anna's relationship evolves in The Wayward Son. Your "Tangled vines, Tangled lives" series sounds intriguing!

Hi Yvonne! I am a big fan of yours. Congrats on your new release! Looking forward to reading the books in THE MASTER VINTNERS series. Thanks for the giveaway!

Di, you'd love the South Australian wineries, but if you come "down under" make sure you visit New Zealand, too. We have some fabulous wineries here as well, particularly at the top of the South Island (where I will be researching soon, hopefully, for the next two Master Vintner books!)

Eli, usually I'm too busy writing my next book to celebrate, but every now and then I might treat myself to something special like a treatment at a day spa or a charm for my bracelet or even just a takeaway lunch down at the beach.

Hi Pat! I hope you enjoy the story!

BTW, apologies if this comes through twice. I posted it and then it disappeared! I'm getting a lot of that here for some reason. The Bermuda Triangle of Blogspot messages maybe? ;-)

Eli, I am usually too busy writing my next book to stop and celebrate my new releases although sometimes I'll treat myself to a treatment at my favourite day spa, or a charm for my bracelet or even just a takeaway lunch down at the beach.

Marybelle, it's a stunningly beautiful landscape, that's for sure. And the views from Mt Lofty are spectacular! Here's the website: http://www.marblehill.com.au/about.html

Laurie, the evolution of Judd and Anna's relationship was very challenging to write but ultimately satisfying in the end. The tag "Tangled vines, tangled lives" epitomises the series.

Caroline the cover is a scene straight out of the book! I was thrilled when I saw it. Thanks for your congrats!

Yvonne Lindsay said...

Hi Cathy, lovely to see you here! Thanks for the congrats and I hope you enjoy the stories!

Well first off I always love your books, so I can't wait to read your new series. I have always been hooked on Australian stories so I welcome the opportunity to read about it again. It's one of the places I've always wanted to visit. I have severe RA so traveling much is really out of the question, so I do all my traveling in books. The cover is wonderful by the way.

Hi Linda, I'm sorry to hear you're prevented from travelling. I don't travel often but do always enjoy it when I do. The Master Vintners series starts in Australia, briefly, but then travels to New Zealand (my homeland.) The next two books in the series will be set in both countries also, with one (Ethan's story) set mostly in Australia and the other (Tamsyn's story) set mostly in New Zealand.

Yvonne Lindsay said...

Thanks, Alison! I love to research. Trouble is, it can become very distracting! :-)

I love the cover of your new book! Many good wishes and a toast, here, here! How exciting! I can't wait to read it especially since it is set in Australia! Would love to go there sometime. I guess I will live precariously through your story.

Oh it looks good and sounds like it will be a great start to the series. Can't wait!

Yvonne Lindsay said...

Hi Michele, the cover is a stunner, isn't it? Thanks for the good wishes. You'll get to read a bit about Australia and a whole lot more about New Zealand with this story. I hope you enjoy the virtual journey :-)

Yvonne Lindsay said...

shgrider, I do hope you look out for the book and that you enjoy reading it!

Lovely, another series....I do love your continuity books; something to get my teeth into.
We've been to the Adelaide Hills when we came to Australia; visited Clare Valley. Unfortunately there wasn't any time left for Barossa Valley. Sigh!
Next time we'll make it to NZ as well. You also have wine. We tasted some, Marlborough region I believe it was, while on our trip to Australia.

Renee said...

If I grew anything, I think I would love to grow the grapes to be a vintner. I think I would have so much creative ability with wine.

Yvonne Lindsay said...

Brigitte, New Zealand's Marlborough region wines are stunning, but we have a great many more for you to enjoy when you come to New Zealand, in both the North and South Islands. And lucky you to have visited the Clare Valley!

Yvonne Lindsay said...

Renee, the thing I love about the term 'vintner' is that it covers such a wide variety of roles within the wine industry, which gives so much scope with regard to characters and stories too. Have you ever tried growing grapes? I don't have a green thumb, myself.

Natalija said...

Greetings from Italy! I haven't read any of your books yet, but I plan on doing so. Love the cover, it immediately caught my eye. P.S. Congrats on your new release!

Yvonne Lindsay said...

Hi Natalija, I hope you do enjoy my books, thanks for the congrats, too. And, yes, I agree with you, the cover on this book is amazing. The Art Department do a great job :-)
