Highlanders...

Hmm…Highlanders.  Just saying the word makes me envision muscular, alpha men who are bold and daring.  Seductive and tempting.  Rugged and roguish.

What makes Highlanders so very. . . enticing?  For me, its part of the people they were/are.  They are one with their land as few are.  Their love of Scotland runs deep in their blood as is seen by their bloody and violent history defending it.

Yet it’s also because there is something amazingly appealing about a man in a kilt.  Maybe it’s a getting to see those muscular legs or knowing what they are – or aren’t, as the case goes – wearing beneath those tartans. J

But I think its because there’s a look a Highlander has that says he’s tough enough and strong enough for whatever comes his way.

There’s nothing I love more than a brawny man in a kilt with a sword ready to defend what is his.

What is it that appeals to you about Highlanders?

I’ll be giving away a copy of the fifth book in my Dark Sword series, SHADOW HIGHLANDER to a commenter.  So talk to me. :)

Look for my upcoming release on January 31st , the six book, DARKEST HIGHLANDER.
HE IS HER SALVATION
For years Broc has watched over her, protected her – and hidden his love for her.  But when his beautiful Sonya finds herself in a hopeless situation, the Highlander flies to her side to save her.  Unfortunately, before the Druidess can thank him, Broc is captured by his enemy and destined for eternal pain...
SHE IS HIS DESTINY
Sonya vows to help her noble Warrior, though he is imprisoned in a mountain of pure evil – bound in the chains of darkest magic.  With Sonya’s own magic fading, she must summon the greatest power of all to save the man she loves.  But even if these two hearts are united, will they be strong enough to defeat the heart of darkness?  Or will undying love doom them for all eternity...

Rugged is definitely the word I associate with the term Highlander. And my attraction is in the strength, protection, and intelligence it implies for men who have been formed from a relatively unforgiving if beautiful land.

I love how protective Highlanders are for their clans. I want a hot man to take care of my big family.

I just keep thinking of Mel Gibson in "Braveheart".

There is just something about a man in a kilt that makes me swoon.

I agree that 'Rugged' is an excellent description. There's just something about a man with a lovely Scottish brogue & a large sword that is appealing.

Hi, Donna! I LOVE this series...I'm just getting ready to read Shadow Highlander (checked out from the library)! But, I would LOVE to have my OWN personal copy! Highlanders are sexy...they have a kinda 'rough and tumble' way about them, they're so strong, brave and protective...and that accent...they could whisper 'naughty nothings' in my ear all night long! ;)

Love how protective they are, their loyalty, the standing up for what they believe in and that rolling brogue they have!

I think part of it is the kilt and then there is their ruggedness and the fact that they are so protective.

It takes a certain kind of man to wear a kilt, and those men certainly appeal to me. :)

My hubby is of Scottish descent and wears a kilt when we go to our Ren Faire. Even my 9 yo son wanted his own kilt.

It's obviously the fact that a kilt can maketh the man. It's a sense of loyalty, strength & honor.

What attracts me to Highlanders is there strong, fierce nature, the loyalty to their family and clan, and their sexy kilts.

I don't know, you put Highlander in the title and I'm all over it. Maybe the romance of Scotland, the lure of the kilt, the strength, courage, honor of the Highlander.

Purr....those handsome, macho men with their sexily accented brogues can start my engine any day! Seriously, Highlanders are my cup of tea since they are fiercely protective. Who wouldn't love a man fighting for you? I think they ooze sex appeal in a kilt and out! LOL!
