Resolutions by Jasmine Haynes!

You know, every year I make a New Year’s resolution, and every year, I fail to keep it. I’m wondering if it’s because of the timing. I mean, really, how many people actually keep their January 1st resolutions!? Or maybe it’s because we don’t make it specific enough. Or that it’s something we don’t really have control over. Like I could resolve that I’m going to sell my mystery series this year! But all I can control is writing it, I can’t control an editor buying it. So, I’m thinking, if I make a resolution now, make it very specific, make it achievable, would I be more likely to keep it? Hah, maybe I could at least keep it until New Year’s! If I made the resolution to eat more chocolate, YES, I could keep that one! But I think I’ll choose something that has real meaning for me. I’m thinking, thinking, okay, I have it! I resolve to visit my mom every other week and to play games with her that help stimulate her mind. Scrabble, card games, stuff like that. When I do go down to visit, we usually watch TV in the evening. Okay, this resolution works for me. I can do it!

So, are you one of those steadfast people who can keep your New Year’s resolution? More power to you! And if you had to choose one now, what would it be? Leave a comment and your contact e-mail address and I’ll enter you in the drawing for a copy of The Fortune Hunter. This book will be released in mass market edition next month.

And here’s a heads up. I’ll be having special guest Crystal Kauffman today, October 5th, on my Jasmine Blog. She’ll be giving you an excerpt from a short story. If you follow her blog tour, you’ll be able to read the whole story! Plus she’s got a contest running for a $25 Amazon gift card!

Don’t miss the excerpt on my website! Take Your Pick is available from Loose-Id. And of course, Dead to the Max is available on Amazon Kindle and Smashwords with a fresh new cover look and a text revamp.

I never make resolutions---cause I know I won't keep them.

I always make resolutions I usually do good for a few weeks then life interrupts the new routine.

After many years of resolution
failure, I finally gave up on
making New Year's promises. For
that's what they are, promises
to do change in whatever area.
Better to live resolutionless
than to break promises to your-
self.

Actually I find making resolutions in November/December work better than waiting for January and a "clean slate." Maybe with all the distractions of the holidays rewards are more frequent.

I'm with some of the other posters - I don't make resolutions because I always break them when life gets in the way. Sorry - I guess we're just a bunch of lazy wimps!

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only who can't keep a New Year's resolution! But I will keep my resolution to visit my mom regularly and play those games with her. That's a promise to both myself and her! Thanks to everyone for stopping by and sharing.

Okay, I'll be back in a few to announce the winner of The Fortune Hunter!
