Fall is around the corner -- and a giveaway

Okay, so it's September. Time to start thinking about cooler temperatures if you live in the Northern Hemisphere. I've actually seen posts on Twitter where people in the PNW have said they had 53 degrees and rain! Yikes!

I'm in Alabama, which is thankfully a bit farther south than that. Our temps are still in the low 90s--and I don't want that to change much. I'd be happy with 85 and no humidity. As far as I'm concerned, it could stay that way year round.

I used to live in Hawaii, so I'm quite familiar with summer all year long. I thought I missed fall and winter and spring -- but the truth is I didn't miss winter at all. And that's the problem with fall being upon us, really. It means winter is around the corner. And I don'wanna!

Then again, last winter in Alabama was very miserable. We had snow--gasp!--and ice that shut down the roads for days on end. We had sub-20 degree temperatures. I do not approve. About all I'm willing to give winter is 45 degrees. And I don't even like that. I'd be happier with 60.

But, to keep myself happy, I'm currently working on a story set in a hot desert climate. There's a sheikh, of course, and a steamy romance to keep me warm.

And, speaking of sheikhs, I have a sheikh story out in the UK right now. It's a part of the New Voices anthology. There's me, Nikki Logan, Molly Evans, and Ann Lethbridge. It's a gorgeous book with four stories -- what could be better?

But there is yet another cool thing about it! An introduction by Katie Fforde in which she says, and I quote: "If you love romance, you'll love Mills & Boon New Voices and, if you haven't read a Mills & Boon romance for a while, this collection should make you remember just how good falling for a gorgeous man can make you feel."

I'm not ready for fall, but I'm always ready for a warm, hot, sexy, funny, lovely (I could keep going!) romance with two people who heat up the pages with passion and intensity. Today, to help you prepare for declining temperatures (brr!), I'll give away ONE copy of this gorgeous book to a lucky commenter! Tell me what your favorite season is and why! And it's okay if you like the colder months, though I think you're crazy.... *g*

About the book: This title features four fabulous new writers introduced by bestselling author Katie Fforde. Includes: "Kept for the Sheikh's Pleasure" by Lynn Raye Harris - King Zafir bin Rashid al-Khalifa does not care for surprises like the reappearance of his ex, Dr Genie Gray! But now Zafir has the power to demand a willing Genie in his bed; "Seven-Day Love Story" by Nikki Logan - Jayne Morrow has moved far away from prying eyes, so when rugged Outback ranger Todd Blackwood strides onto her land, she won't let him into her heart; "Her No.1 Doctor" by Molly Evans - Travel nurse Carla Lopez is back in Santa Fe but with a time limit! She's instantly attracted to gorgeous Doctor Max Kelton's cool competence, but will he notice her this time around? and, "The Governess and the Earl" by Ann Lethbridge - Mrs Sarah Drake applies for the position of governess to the notorious dark Earl of Ralston's motherless son. But the brooding Earl expects the new governess to be a matronly widow, not a shapely young lady!

Thanks to the Random Number Generator, the winner of the book is Chey! Chey, send me your info at Lynn AT LynnRayeHarris DOT com and I'll get the book in the mail!

Fall is my favorite season. I love the beautiful fall colors and the smell of fireplaces burning. The wonderful decorations and the hint of Halloween, it's my favorite holiday. I always enjoy watching the kids dress up and have fun trick or treating. Brown is my favorite color so the changing shades of brown of the fall really appeal to me. Yes, I too hate the thought of winter. I use a walker to get around outside and skating around on ice with a walker is not fun. That's why I like to stay home all curled up in my chair with a hot drink and a good book.

My favorite season is summer.
I love everything being green without the pollen season of spring.
I live in the deep south of Georgia and the if I could get rid of the humidity I would really love summer.
I used to love winter more but as I get older the cold makes my arthritis flair up. I like fall and winter time for the holidays and thee crispness in the air but after Christmas I am ready for warm weather again.
You mills and Boon book sounds like a real winner. A book full of exotic Sheikhs,

My favorite season is summer. It has always been that way since I was very young. I enjoy the intense sunshine, the soothing warmth and the long days. The warm and delightful evenings when we go for long walks are perfect. I sit outside and read in this ideal environment and enjoy every single minute of this season.

Summertime is to me the ultimate and best season. Mainly because I used to live in a Northern Clime with a lengthy and severe winter and a brief summer. After moving to an ideal climate with gorgeous summers I revel in this beauty and lap up every minute of the heat and bright sun. It makes me feel so alive and increase my daily enjoyment of life.

Fall is definitely my favorite season. I love football and cool weather, sweaters and school starting.

Mostly the football, though. :-)

Hi, everyone! Wow, we have four autumn lovers and three summer lovers! I do enjoy the first few crisp days of fall, I have to admit. I like putting on pretty boots and sweaters -- but then I dread winter, so I lose the enthusiasm pretty quickly, LOL.

I think I'm a summer lover too. Mostly the early summer though, when the days are getting longer. When I lived in Germany, it stayed light until nearly 11PM. I loved that.

Keep the comments coming, y'all! I love reading about everyone's reasons for their favorite season!

I love spring. It is a time of new beginnings. I love the grass greening, planting the garden and longer days!
I must admit I am looking forward to fall this year. I've had enough of the 100 degree days for a while.

I like fall because of the comfortable weather, not too hot or cold. The scenery is also nice at this time of the year with the leaves changing color.

Fall is my favorite season. It always reminds me of State Fairs, football (go Razorbacks) and Halloween. I love the cooler temps and being ouside with friends and family.

Best of all, it's not too bad on my allergies, like Spring is.

We used to live on the coast of mississippi and I swear our "fall" leaves dropped two days before Christmas and spring lives arrived two days after. I didn't appreciate that at all. I'm very happy to have all my seasons here in northwest Georgia. :) Even winter. But that's probably because I'm addicted to snow. I'm one of those crazy people who can't get enough of the stuff. And trust me, I've seen it higher than most rooftops. Didn't bother me any. :)

Hey, everyone! Wow, so many fall lovers. Quite a few summers too -- and one crazy winter person. (Just teasing you, Alice!)

I see we have a spring lover in Rebekah -- I agree about the lovely blooming flowers!

And Sneha, you skip fall and go straight to monsoon, hmm?

Hey there!
My first reaction was to say Fall because of the beautiful weather, but I've reconsidered and decided on Spring.
I am usually so sick and tired of being frozen all winter (especially my toes, of course) that Spring is VERY welcome. With both Fall and Spring, though, my favorite thing is not having my air conditioning or my furnace on. I am always trying to save money, as a penny here and there DOES add up, and these conveniences/necessities cost a lot of money.
As for your sheikh book, I have learned that one can never have too many sheikhs in their life! Thanks so much!

Spring! I like it because everything is coming up and greening out after a dreary winter.

It's very hard for me to choose between

Summer
-love sun, heat, beach, BBQs, hanging outside with friends and family till late in the balmy nights

and

Winter
- curled up by the fire place (okay since we don't have one let's picture the central heating) with a hot beverage, snuggled up under a blanket, reading while outside the snowflakes fall steadily to cover the world in a white blanket, ice-skating, Christmas

But if I really, really have to choose it would be Summer, I think...

Hey New Voice partner, found your blog quite by accident and wanted to add my vote to Summer. It is always a great family time for us. Whether it is walking the dog, barbecuing or sitting outside talking in the long warm nights summer always reminds me of good times.
Great to meet you on line, best wishes Ann

Oh I love summer. Relaxing outside, no school, nice weather. I live in Wisconsin! I have some free time to read, bike, swim and walk.

Now if I could only get a few of my visitors to go somewhere else for their weekends!

Thanks for all the comments, everyone! I have enjoyed reading about which season you prefer. I'm going to have to stick myself in the summer camp, as I said before. I love long summer days, fireflies, bbq's, and sitting outside on the patio at night with a glass of wine. :)

A special wave to Ann -- hi, New Voice partner! I'm looking forward to reading your story as soon as I get some time to curl up with this gorgeous book! :)
