Hugh who? The Sexiest Man Alive 2008. Really? by Diana Holquist

My friend Julie James and I happen to be a little obsessed by People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive. And why not? After all, we both wrote books about him.

But who exactly were we thinking of when we were writing? Hugh Jackman?

Disclosure: When People magazine picked Mr. Jackman as Sexiest Man Alive 2008, I didn't even know who he was. Do you know who he is? Do you think he's the one? Here's the poll we've been conducting of romance readers for the last few weeks. I ask again, Hugh who? The man barely registered. Is there something different about romance readers? Why Gerard Butler? And by such a huge margin? Vote in the poll and let me know what you think.

I have to agree with People Magazine's choice I love Hugh Jackman and I think he is so sexy and he comes across in all of his interviews like such a nice guy Hugh is my pick hands down.

Have Fun

He's pretty easy on the eyes, you bet!

Over at the Pink Heart Society everyone adores this man and he from time to time is in the spotlight.

Love the Hugh. Lots of great contenders in that list, a few I'd NOT pick even though they are incredibly popular for some reason...but I was very pleased with this year's title holder. :-)

I think People definitely got it right! Hugh is handsome, sexy, talented, a devoted husband, a great dad. What's not to love?

Diana, I'm still trying to figure out how you've never heard of him. He's been in plenty of movies, on all the talk shows and on Broadway. He won a Tony, an emmy and was nominated for a Golden Globe. He's in People Magazine a lot!

This devoted romance reader is a devoted fan of Hugh Jackman.

Besides, how can you not love a guy who passes out TimTams to the entire Oprah audience? :)

Whew!

I posted this same blog over at http://grandcentralcafe.blogspot.com this morning and got lashed with a wet chest hair over there, too. I really better get on this Hugh guy (so to speak...).

The last movie I saw: Guys and Dolls
Last time I saw a Broadway show: Cats? 1980? 1982?

I don't get out much, what can I say? I'm a writer. I just make it all up.

I don't know who Butler is.. but HUGH.. yummy. I had the pleasure of seeing him from the third row in The Boy from Oz (He won a Tony Award for the role.) As my girlfriend said.. I was close enough to see him sweat. Sigh. I also have the DVD of Hugh in Oklahoma. His dancing was so so back then but the bode and voice made up for it.

As Wolverine.. extra yummy.

People Mag got it right.

You don't know who Butler is!?! The horror!?! The shame!?!

Just kidding...I'm telling you, there are way too many sexy men out there. What ARE we going to do about it?

LOL.. too many sexy men. Hmm.. what a shame. This is why I can never envision actors or actresses in the books I read. I just don't know enough to place in the books I read. Thank goodness for google.com to find out what I don't know. Now to go google Butler.

People magazine got it right. Hugh is such a hottie.

Sorry Diana, but l have to say, Butler Who ? I have not come across his name before this. Now Hugh, Age only make him better looking. Just an additional name to throw in, Wentworth Miller, from prison break, that is just a very sexy man.

Diana Holquist said...

Wentworth?!? Another name?!? How am I going to get any work done tonight? Google, here I come...

Some Sexiest Man Alive trivia: People has only picked ONE non-actor Sexiest Man Alive in the history of the contest. Who is it? Wanna guess? Hint: he's NOT an athlete.

I love Hugh too, but I want to see Gerry as the sexist, cause he is!!! ;)

Dina said...

Saw Webtworth after I posted, Gerry is still #1 to me, but I adore Wentworth too. :)

I've only saw one full movie with Hugh, and bits and pieces of X-Men, so I'm not a huge fan, but have to agree, he's a cutie. :) So People did good this year. ;)

Diana, that was John F. Kennedy, Jr.

Gina said...

Yup that non actor who won is John F Kennedy Jr. He was also the youngest l think at 27 years at the time.

Diana Holquist said...

Hooray PJ and Tina! Yep, JFK. I think that's awesome. I also think it's AMAZING that an athlete has never won. It must have something to do with selling magazines.

Now tell the truth: did you guys know or did you look it up? (I had to look up what TimTams were...)

Thanks so much for letting me spend the day with all of you. So fun!

Hugh Jackman was a surprise pick, but I agree wholeheartedly! He is one sexy man and a loving husband and father, too!

Hugh is a very handsome guy but I think I would have selected Christian De LaFuenta. I hope I spelled his name right. He was on Dancing With The Stars last season. Oh man is he sexy!

pjpuppymom said...

Actually, Diana, an athlete has won although he wasn't competing at the time he was chosen. Mark Harmon was People's Sexiest Man in 1986. While he's best known today as an actor he was also a very good athlete and was starting quarterback for UCLA in the 70's (when I had a major crush on him). He could have easily followed his father (a Heisman Trophy winner) into the pros but chose acting instead.

Diana Holquist said...

Oh, no! Now you're outing me as someone who knows nothing about sports, too.

Sigh, it's true! It's all true!

Man, that must be a hard decision: star athlete or just star. I hope my kids have that kind of life...

I think Hugh Jackman is sexy. My favorite is George Clooney though. Mmm
